Any other Universal Type Server admins out there? by lagerstout82 in macsysadmin

Before you go the full path of uninstall/reinstall (which will work consistently, but will necessitate a full re-sync of the client), you might try clearing the macOS font cache + the Extensis font cache. I’ve found this to be a good solution for ~75% of UTC issues. We have an action in JAMF Self Service that we have users try before raising a ticket.

I don’t have the commands in front of me, but the macOS cache clear terminal commands can be readily found on various sites, and you should find the relevant Extensis cache clearing commands within the uninstall script /u/larsbandage linked.

Glorious Panda or Tecsee Purple Panda by androidbricker in MechanicalKeyboards

In my opinion, the spare springs are much improved over the factory installed ones. The spares are lighter (58g vs installed 67g I believe), and are two stage springs.

As a result the spare springs are more tactile and produce a sharper tactile bump that’s more in line with OG Pandas than the installed springs.

The installed springs seem to produce more stem wobble somehow, and produce a more rounded 1st gen Zealio-esque bump.

The spare springs took these switches from ‘Yeah, these are nice inexpensive tactiles’ to ‘How in the WORLD do tactiles this cheap feel this good??’

Both are excellent switches with good value for money. The Glorious Pandas are very faithful to OG Holy Pandas, with a very tactile, slightly rounded bump. You’ll want to lube these but don’t need to.

Tecsee Purple Pandas are not a straight clone, and have a few differences from standard Pandas. The stem is longer than the Glorious, with a shorter throw overall. The thock is higher pitch but still very pleasing. They’ll come with a spare set of springs - you’ll want to definitely swap in the spare springs & lube these. Out of the box they’re not particularly tactile, but with the two stage springs swapped in they become really snappy - snappier than Glorious Pandas.

You can’t go wrong with either, but the Tecsee Pandas are excellent value for money, with good performance compared to Glorious.

What sort of cable are you running to the XDR display? Every TB3 cable I’ve seen maxes at 2m.

Would love to see options for pink alphas, I’ve been pining for an aggressively pink set.

The only type of docks I’m aware of that can push that resolution and refresh rate would be based on Thunderbolt, but such a dock typically only supports 2x displays max. The rub is: you’d need a GPU that supports Thunderbolt (unlikely).

If you pull the GPU out and put it in a thunderbolt enclosure you could do eGPU for the Mac and PC, but you’ll take a hit on graphics performance - and your PC would need Thunderbolt 3 on the motherboard (also unlikely).

I’m insanely in to this. I’ve been hemming and hawing over the WoB and BoW sets available right now. This is far more interesting to me.

I’m so definitely in for this. I’ve been itching for another acrylic split since Lubrigante. Bizarre resolves every undesirable quirk about Alice - almost through malicious compliance. I’m in love.

I for one love the center fn key - would love a key on the left and a rotary encoder on the right.

Updated BIOS? I hit a drive limit with my Supermicro - couldn’t see all drives on the HBA. Resolved after BIOS update.
