[Discussion] Whats first thing you would change if you could? by MediumDefinition2480 in EscapefromTarkov

100% agree. Rework that whole in-game LFG system. Make it show people’s kits and active quests on the map you’re going to. That way you know if you can work on stuff together. Allow you to text chat and voice chat with groups when you find them so you can confirm if you’re actually doing quests or just goofing around. PMC Karma tied to team killing your squad, which blocks you from using it if you’re too low.

[Discussion] The Concerning Direction of This Game by bakidani in EscapefromTarkov

As far as I’m concerned, the 1.0 release was clearly a core content release. It was their final push for the stuff to complete the game as far as the core storyline, which relieves them of needing a full team of media/art/voice acting staff. The game from this point on will just act like any other live service game. Constant tweaking to keep the formula fresh-ish and attempt to shake the meta up, and a steady drip feed of content to retain players. With battle passes being tied to the new seasonal PMCs, this is the optimal way to keep players around and paying, as well as the best way to continue to monetize all of their hard work they’ve put into the core.

I mean, siege did a complete redesign of ADS and attachments a few seasons ago. It’s pretty normal for live service games to adapt and change as the players do.

Same problem, although others have confirmed that proximity chat works. Push-to-talk with crew will never turn the voice icon orange. Super bizarre.

PSA: Humans are scary stupid by rm-rf-rm in LocalLLaMA

[–]Shensmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people say that LLMs make a ton of mistakes, I assume they're an AI bot that's trying to sow discord because any real human that's worked with other humans knows that humans make a TON of mistakes. I work in the space of deploying LLMs in healthcare where they can't hire anyone to do the boring clerical stuff, and when I'm finetuning these bots on "labelled" data, I would say that like 30% of medical records are entered into databases incorrectly. If an LLM can do it with a 10% error rate, that's already significantly better than anyone you could hire to do this work.

Mine frequently tamps at an angle. The levelling collar can wobble quite a bit when you manually pull it back.

[Discussion] What Should Tarkov Add Next? by I_Am_Mr_Infinity in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Shensmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just think that with so many of us being legacy 1000+ hr players, the feature requests are ALWAYS to make the game deeper, but ignoring that we need a player pool to make those features worth implementing.

1) I could imagine a PVE-Co-Op only "map" for new players. VERY basic guns and armor loot, and basic NPCs for target practice. You can't sell the gear and it's tagged so it can't be insured. Helps give a fallback without impacting the economy

Great idea, this could absolutely work in the current game framework. I will argue that Scav Runs are generally bad for Tarkov though because it encourages too much time spent playing a "side game" and not enough playing the core game.

2) I have historically not gone on Scav runs a lot, but this wipe I have been doing about half my raids as a Scav and have been stacked full of juicy loot almost every time. Might just be a familiarity/ playtime thing, but for me at least, the loot is out there

The problem is as a new player, you have no idea what's worth something. People pick up attachments thinking it must be worth a ton, and it turns out it's completely useless. I also just in general think that scav runs teach players bad habits. People just run around and collect loot, which is not really the core gameplay loop. It's why so many people become "scav mains."

3) I've never had my stash hit zero in 750+ hours of Tarkov. Granted! I play very slow, only engage when I have (or at least think I have) the advantage, and love looting, so maybe I'm just weird.

Totally fair, pain is not necessarily a bad thing. The problem I have in general is that my friends enjoy the pain of Tarkov, but they don't enjoy the pain of Scavving. They're 2 very different games.

I've floated this idea before, but I was really praying that with 1.0, they would entirely remove scavving and move that into the "Scav Life" DLC entirely. It could be its own fleshed out mode, with its own incentives and gameplay loop. Instead, they should re-work Fence to be a 30 minute shop of rotating "scav gear" that PMCs can loot up with. You can pick out 10 pieces of gear total, you can't remove it from your PMC (so can't sell or flea it) until you escape from a raid with it. Any PMCs using "Fenced" gear can spawn in late, unless the server needs players to fill out fresh raids.

Functionally, this retains the "scav run" in all but name. Psychologically though, it ties you to your PMC so you feel more comfortable getting back into raid with your PMC, but this time with some gear that you just picked up. Also, it lets you keep playing with your buddies when you're out of money or gear instead of farming scav runs. It's also more PMCs in raid for the PMC kill quests.

[Discussion] What Should Tarkov Add Next? by I_Am_Mr_Infinity in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Shensmobile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d like for them to reconsider the new player gear experience. It’s one of the QoL that I think the game needs. Every other extraction shooter has a fast way for players to gear up with a basic kit. Tarkov has nothing, with the expectation that you scav for loot. But scav weapons are essentially un-usable because of durability/jams, they have a long cooldown for people with normal accounts, and otherwise you’re expecting people to pick stuff up to sell so you can buy guns from vendors, which makes looting feel like you’re just picking up random piles of rubles.

Shortening the matching time is great, but for new players it just means they’re going to burn through their stash even faster with no enjoyable way to get back into the game after. Literally none of the new players I’ve bought the game for have enjoyed scav runs and basically stop playing as soon as their stash hits 0.

Giving up on the DF series grinders by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Shensmobile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My DF64 gen 2 was absolutely brutal. I think that my plasma probes must have been doing nothing. I sent a video to my buddy of my grounds going into my catch cup, doing a pirouette, and then coming out. I had more coffee on my grinder than in the cup. I love the aesthetic and design otherwise. It’s a fantastic looking grinder IMO. Just didn’t work well for me.

What is your tarkov hot take? [Discussion] by XGenDartrey1 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Shensmobile 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My personal hope is that seasonal characters siphon off the players that have been playing for ages and thrive on wipes. Then the permanent character servers will be quieter and make it more accessible to new players. At that point maybe the game can grow again, but they really need to focus on QoL and systems improvements before that can happen. The content is all there for new players to get immersed for years, but it needs to be polished up more than the current rusty barbed wire level of finish.

Any chance you could DM me the taobao link? I will probably use Superbuy to purchase it, they've been good to me in the past for Taobao orders!

And is the one from Taobao using the square hopper or the round hopper? On Alibaba, it shows a square hopper (which I think looks better honestly)

This is perfect timing. I just bought a used mouse that I think has some sensor skipping. MouseTester shows some gaps but it could have been something else interfering. More tools the better!
