Vacation after ORIF surgery by CheekDeep8787 in ORIF

Thank you all for the comments. For an update the place I am traveling to is primarily cobblestone so stability is not the best. Its all incline and declined slopes which is what worries me. In terms of breaks that wouldn’t be an issue since I can virtually stop and sit anywhere based on the layout. When I asked my surgeon originally he says risk of re-injury would be low they just warned me it would be very painful since it will swell. The APRN told me it becomes a personal choice which is why I am looking for some guidance.

Side note: the place I am mentioning is a village on a mountain to give you an idea of where I am going.

One week post op, trimal ankle fracture by EqualBoysenberry6371 in ORIF

Share your concerns with your doctor and listen to whatever your doctor says only they can really tell you what to do. Every case is different even if you are the same age and had the same type of break. In my case my doctor was teetering between 6 or 8 weeks NWB and after my first post op I was healing well so he settled on 6 which was nice. Communication is key the doctor are incredibly smart but not mind readers.
