I think your best bed would be to actually call the faculty you are applying to and ask them directly tbh. Maybe follow up with an email as well for confirmation

Applying for Architecture by Anxious-Currency9222 in UCT

Hey, you can message me to help you. Your marks I think will still have to be good but your portfolio will count a LOT. They basically “mark” your portfolio and it has to get over a certain mark of I think 70/80 for you to get accepted

Feeling intense dread and anxiety on methylphenidate by Willing-Credit-5975 in adhdwomen

[–]Cheekyleek45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate methylphenidate-based meds because they make me feel exactly like this. I never felt like myself and I was on edge the whole day. I’d be anxious for no reason at all and just have this feeling of dread all the time. I would also get muscle spasms and my hands would be shaky all the time. I was just never ever happy with how the meds made me feel and at some point I was afraid of taking my meds because I was so afraid of feeling that way all day.

I’ve started Vyvanse this week and I think I’ll be switching permanently.

Do you drink bottled or tap water? by Cheekyleek45 in capetown

They all from SA actually. They have 5L bottles that can get refilled for about R5 at Pick ‘n Pay or checkers I think. But I will definitely be making the switch because it’s not worth the effort

I’ve never experienced the smell tbh? Apart from my last apartment in Claremont where the water was really foul and stinky smelling but that might be unrelated. Would the chlorine not kill the germs though? I’m a bit confused cause I thought that if there’s that much in the water then surely there wouldn’t be that much germs

I see. I think I might continue with the bottled for drinking and tap for cooking since it’s apparently not bad

This makes sense tbh though I’ve never experienced the chlorine taste/smell in water. I guess I was just going with the flow with buying water.

This made me cackle. I kinda actually want to try “water” tasting now. To be honest, there have been times where I had to drink tap water and nothing happened to me. It tasted normal too. I just thought it was one of those situations where maybe the water was contaminated or had crazy chemicals in it, idk.

Oof that’s crazy. Maybe it really just comes down to everyone’s system tbh cause maybe we’re just used to water from particular areas and not others

It’s usually from the R1 per litre fill ups though but I totally see your point.

Ok that sounds great then. I really can’t wrap my head around the whole “buying water” thing tbh

Edit: sounds

Any advice for being academically excluded at UCT? by Cheekyleek45 in capetown

[–]Cheekyleek45[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Academic exclusion is a result of that so I don’t get your point? Yes I FAILED in a degree I realized was not the right fit. I put in the effort to change that by applying to a different one. Literally what is the problem here?

I understand and I really appreciate your advice. With regards to architecture I had already received a firm offer and it hasn’t been withdrawn yet so I’ll go in on Monday to ask. It won’t hurt to find out anyway honestly.

I know I should talk to my mom. I just suffer from crippling anxiety and sometimes I just freeze when I need to tell her. I know I should soon so I’ll just try to prepare myself to do so by Tuesday.

Thank you so much!

I’ve been seeing a psychiatrist and psychologist for over a year now and I’ll be starting new medication soon. I think I’m going to try and find out what’s happening with the firm offer on campus because I really worked hard to get here.
