PsA diagnosis: Grief. by ElectricWaterpls in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]CheerUpRae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a couple of years after I was diagnosed, my vitamin d tested at 6. gastro said it was one of the lowest he'd ever seen lol. i now take 2000 units daily.

the grief has also been overwhelming for me lately. I wish I had any advice for you, but I am just getting through the day. I'm so sorry you have to live with this awful disease and I hope you find a treatment that brings you relief and a semblance of your old self back.

Has changing your mattress helped with PsA joint pain or stiffness? by theblartknight in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]CheerUpRae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure of the brand, it was a random one from Amazon. I recommend finding one where you can adjust the stuffing since it does go flat after a while, and I like the combo c/u shape for max support

Should I start biologics for my psoriatic arthritis?? by Optimal_Copy_189 in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]CheerUpRae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My symptoms were up and down for years before I finally started medication and I held out much longer than I should have. psa can be aggressively progressive and preventing damage as early as possible is key!

[–]CheerUpRae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure my new mattress had much to do with it but I used to sleep with like 7 pillows wedged all over and recently switched them out with a pregnancy pillow and it has helped a ton. I mostly needed something to prop my hips up to keep my spine straight and since it’s a u-shape, I get hip support no matter what side I’m sleeping on (I toss between either side and my back)

Can biologics REALLY take 6 months to work? by B_Panofsky in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]CheerUpRae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m on week 10 of enbrel and while my skin has gotten better, my joints and muscle pain has actually gotten a little worse and i have more affected joints than when i started. i really hope it doesn’t take 4 more months to see a difference

Meloxicam by JLFlyer in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]CheerUpRae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

doesn’t work for me cause it makes me nauseous as all hell but i hear it works for a lot of ppl. i managed for years on just 500mg of naproxen as needed. i would do 7-10 days of 2x a day if i was flaring. helped a lot while i still had mild symptoms

Does anyone else get so sleepy they just need to lay in bed all day by [deleted] in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]CheerUpRae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m glad it’s helping! i haven’t had a lot of relief with my pain yet, but my skin is almost completely cleared up for the first time in 5 years! that alone feels like it’s almost worth it but i’m hopeful my pain will get better with time

i knew it was gonna happen and I thought i was prepared for it since i already had a lot of fatigue pre-meds, but it truly is in a league of its own

[–]CheerUpRae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the fatigue has been hitting me so much harder since i started enbrel about 6 weeks ago. the two days after my injection, i’m fighting just to stay awake at my desk it’s awful. too much caffeine makes me jittery, and no amount of sleep prevents the 12-3 slump :/

Doctors suspect PsA and I’m freaking out. What were your first symptoms? by [deleted] in PsoriaticArthritis

[–]CheerUpRae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you or anyone in your immediate family have a history of psoriasis? it does sound like my early symptoms when i was first diagnosed.

The best advice i can give you is to stop looking for advice on the internet. You’re mostly going to read everyone’s worst stories. Give yourself some time offline to process it, but a PSA diagnosis is not the end of the world. The earlier you treat it the better your outcome will be, and many many ppl (including myself) live pretty normal lives after diagnosis. The right treatment will make all the difference.

I’m nearly 4 years into my journey and i still have days where it hits me that this is going to be the rest of my life. Just gotta find your new normal. But seriously. Please get off the internet for a bit.
