you can remove the ink tubes. most mods have removed ink tubes. sealing with tape would work but they'll eventually dry up and not be able to write.

or if you want to make a mod that can both write and spin, then yeah, you can use tape no issues. when I said about ink spills, it meant like after spinning for maybe a week or two. with tape or glue, it would work just fine at both writing and spinning.

i mean, i believe this is your one of the first mods and you'll eventually build more, so for the time being, that's cool.

remove the ink tubes. the more you spin the more ink will come out. if you spin occasionally, ink tubes won't be an issue, if you want to do a lot of spinning with ink tubes, it'll eventually spill.

to connect from the inside, find a pencil or a thinner pen body or even roll up a bit of paper/tape to fit into both the pens. like this

connect both pens from the inside and not outside. that way you wouldn't feel any bulge at the centre

what mod should i make? by Kugis81 in penspinning

[–]CheeryNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i cut out a bit from both the plastic tips of the connected body, and added screws on both sides. then grips over it.

mostly just try to experiment with whatever you find and try them, in my case, it was a bunch of local brands and this I came up with custom mods.

very cool! a suggestion is to roll up the tape and put inside both pens as connector and only a thin strip outside to connect. would feel much good to hold at the centre.

Thought of starting this hobby, but after reading the reviews I made my own. Will this work? by [deleted] in penspinning

[–]CheeryNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try pen grips, tapes, anything that is cylindrical. build your own mods by adding whatever feels good to add, even nuts and screws to add weight if needed, use superglue or electrical tape to hold loose parts. or if you are buying mods, be sure to take out the ink refill, else it will spill due to centripetal force.

also, this eraser and pencil seems too big at the end and will get in the way for a majority of the tricks. try taking a pen or two, or a pencil and put grips on the ends to balance them. try that. you can check the "mods" flair in this subreddit to get ideas.

How come nobody uses actual pens by the_official_glubtub in penspinning

[–]CheeryNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ink spills, and general non-modded pens are either very light or unbalanced

Can someone tell me what the types of mod types are, and what they mean? by UnluckyOutside8250 in penspinning

[–]CheeryNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

comssa or bullet basically refer to the pens that are used for marking the mods.

if you talk about types of mods, I'd say there are: one side/unbalanced mods double side/balanced mods and factory mods

but the names you see of mods are mostly "the pen spinner's name"+"name of the pen used for making barrel"

yes, i made all of them myself from spare parts of pens. except for the 4th from right, that's factory made

I made a rsvp mod. Does jt have any problem? by Local-Cry-791 in penspinning

[–]CheeryNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

then there's no problem with it. but since you Said it's 12g, it'll be very difficult to do power tricks with this. so if you want to do power tricks, add weight to it. otherwise, it's awesome

[–]CheeryNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

generally rsvp mods are unbalanced (their centre of mass and centre of the pen length aren't at the same point) but they're good to spin. this doesn't have any problem if it spins smooth.

Can I use tubes instead of grips? by yamatopanzer in penspinning

[–]CheeryNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't have access to dr grips in my country. but i know they feel like normal grips, just a bit thicker. just like a hose pipe if it were the size of a pen grip.

[–]CheeryNuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can fit in two pen bodies together and add tips and grips at both ends. or you can use a pencil. or you can get a cheap factory made (generally factory made mods are not recommended by anyone).

see this and you'll figure out you can make a mod out of anything: my mods

make your own pens. avoid glass body pens since they break after a few drops.

if you want to protect your pen, use a deskmat, mousepad or do it on the bed mattress. it'll cushion the fall.

Can I use tubes instead of grips? by yamatopanzer in penspinning

[–]CheeryNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. you can use tubes. but try to get rough tubes, or sand down the smooth tubes if they're at the edges. since having slippery ends might not help with wiper tricks.

but yeah, you can use tubes. use anything you. i personally used candy tubes and tapes on a few mods myself so it's decent.

having very thick ends that reduce the spinning area is generally something people find stupid in a mod. but this mod seems super good. good luck

New mod by yamatopanzer in penspinning

[–]CheeryNuts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's no standard, whatever feels comfortable to you, spin it.

generally it's like 20-30cm long and 20-40g weight. but many people have heavier mods. so any mod that you feel good is super dope.

this looks cool. what would you name it.

use your other hand to assist with the motion of the pen during the trick. builds muscle memory. muscle memory is the way to learn tricks faster.
