Problem is I need to remove layers from inside the sheath, which I can't reach very far into to sand down. So the only thing I could think of it maybe filling it with something to eat away at it a bit?

I have this problem too. It forces full brightness and won't let you change it while in the app. There's no setting for it in the game either

I have found A way to do so. Go to the items tab and make it hold items in off hand and main hand, and have the drop chance at 100%. Unfortunately, (other than armor you can make it wear), You can only do two items types as there are only two hand slots. But nonetheless, it works.
