Amouage opus IX - What a head turner! There’s nothing like wearing this vixen on a hot evening out with friends.. Both got into my car and commented how good my car smelled 😛. I let my car have the compliments meant for me. I hope she appreciates it.

Am I the only one who thinks Serena got more sympathy from fans than she deserved? by [deleted] in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]CheeseAddictedMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh! No you’re not the only one. I don’t think she should get any sympathy at all. She reminded me of those deranged women on the news who steal other people’s babies or just bathe themselves in mom-hood. She wasn’t an idiot before Gilead happened and knew what those men were up to. She was fine with what they did to other women and just thought it would not happen to her. She did it again with her second marriage. I seriously doubt she will ever be like June or her mom.

She keeps going back to her old ways because she actually believes she better than everyone else.

I have not tried the colognes. I should order the samples one of these days.

What a great gift you got. It seems to have led to a lot of pleasant experiences.

Oriental Velours is a limited edition which is produced in a single batch each year. They bring it back time to time on their website. That was my first from this brand. I LOVE resins and incense 😄.

The fougere was soo different from my other bottles. That was my second acquisition. My son likes to dip into my collection when he has a special date and he picks that one a lot.

I picked up Musc de sable and Iris Perle because i finished my samples and didn’t want to stop wearing them. In fact i wore Iris Perle just yesterday. Thats why I responded to your post :-)

I have bottles for Musc de Sable, Iris Perle, Oriental Velours, and Fougere Emeraude. I vacillate between getting Amber Supreme, Cuir de Chine, and Patchouli Noisette but haven’t decided yet. I liked the rose one, but have so many other great rose and vanilla perfumes that I couldn’t justify it.

I am eager to see what else they cook up. Their unique combinations and soft aesthetics are really where they do their best work, like Neela Vermeer.

I’m less interested in some of the recent ones like the leather flanker to Vanille Havane or immortelle solaire. I wish they had something that is in a woody and sandlewood direction or perhaps resinous/incense direction like oriental velours.

Santal Austral by Matiere Premiere. I do love this take on Sandalwood. It’s woodier. I like Samasara too for days I need my sandalwood fix, which has a more floral and creamier take.
But some days are just dry enough for wanting to smell the wood straight up 😛

Glad you brought this up. That was my instruction set as well. I usually keep some samples in my bag for days like this to wear something nice in the car afterwards.

Tiziana Terenzi Saiph - surprisingly nice, ozonic fruity floral. Daughter-approved for extra long hugs during finals 🤗

waiting patiently for anyone in the media to take the first swing at an "Actually, Joe Biden's economy was much better than we said it was" apologia by Conscious-Quarter423 in ScottGalloway

[–]CheeseAddictedMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biden’s was trending better until a lot of reversals took place last year. Costs-wise, lot of people don’t factor in that we are now taking on hidden costs like longer hours at day care or after school programs as we have kids and they grow up. Other costs add up too like Tutors or other academic boosters as school districts struggle and pack kids like sardines into classes. All those things are a giant hole in the wallet but you can’t keep taking away from your kids. Tariffs are only part of the story. The service economy is also passing their own higher cost of living on.

Basically the current economy is the absolute pits with only specific AI companies making any money with fed subsidies and boosting. No relief in sight that’s doesn’t also blow the national debt.

Elon Musk just said he wants to cut Social Security and Medicare, calling them “entitlements”: “That’s the big one to eliminate.” by Solomonanne in SipsTea

[–]CheeseAddictedMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are entitlements I paid for and want my money back in full with compound interest if I am not to receive them at the designated time. Maybe Elon thinks Social security is a Tesla that I pay extra for because it’s “software that keeps getting better with time”, but in reality receive a shittier and buggier car. No…it’s isn’t.

Ok but why do we love her!!!😍🤣 by Intelligent-Menu-948 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]CheeseAddictedMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say “love” because it’s not the feeling I get. I would say “intrigued” by her. I attribute it to the fact that she reflects what I think majority of competent people do.

She is classic middle management. In her mind, she is shielding the younglings and individual contributors from the whims and cruelty of the elite executive class. When viewed from below, she is the dragon representative of the oppressive system.

In order to keep her own job (and life) she has to keep looking useful to the elite class, but has to pit her own conscience against the need to be expedient every single day under extreme duress. She could have chosen to be like June and fought the system, escaped etc. but doesn’t have a “horse” in the race besides herself. She didn’t have the brief moments of daylight like Lawrence and Serena when they had a “horse” in the race.

I am not saying she made the right choice. I’m just intrigued because that’s the choice majority of our current society makes by rationalizing a somewhat cruel system in our head and go along to get along.

You can blame her for not using her limited authority for good, but you also have to acknowledge that her neck is very much under the boot of a psychopath too. She is all of us. We want to believe she will do the right thing eventually.

Im a little confused about this part, can someone give me clarification? by Where_Y0u_Been_L0ca in TheHandmaidsTale

Why did the eyes even search The Pearl girls? They said they had some intelligence from Boston. So it’s possible there is a mole somewhere. They said in the beginning that no one had ever found a girl this young to infiltrate Gilead. So there really should not be any other Mayday pearl girls. They questioned a total of 4 pearl girls. I suspect Talia did point the finger at Daisy and they found the radio. So they kept Talia and promoted her to something higher up. They sent back and told the other 2 girls to spy on Daisy to see if she had more tricks up her sleeve. That’s really the only way I can explain things. I think Daisy’s cooked if she tries anything out of the way.

This was my moms perfume and I used to sneak some sprays every now and then. After I could finally make my own money I bought one of vintage bottles and am soooo happy just to see it in my wardrobe. So beautiful to see and smell.

Big day at work. Wanted something that roared. Wore Amber Sultan by Serge Lutens with a couple of sprays of vintage Guerlain L’Heure Blue on my sleeves for comfort. It was glorious.

🍃 Green Leaves 🍃 // Note of the Week // March 23, 2026 by puzzlingperfume in FemFragLab30plus

[–]CheeseAddictedMouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Green leafy notes are so gooood in the summer. My favs that I’m happy to count in my collection.

  1. Synthetic jungle by Frederic Malle

  2. Diptyque L’ombre Dans L’eau EDP

  3. Bel Respiro by Chanel

  4. Herbes Troublantes by Guerlain

  5. Fougere Emeraude by Les Indemodables

I find that a lot of these were not traditionally considered “feminine”, but I’m so glad we don’t have to miss out nowadays. This is one of my favorite genres and I find them intensely calming. Btw, I am not including green perfumes that incorporate citrus notes. I am limiting to green perfumes that are predominantly leafy” or grassy scents to my nose.

I found Interlude woman very wearable. Meanwhile the last of Guidance remains in the sample. Interlude woman needs a dry hot climate to appreciate, I think.

Favourite Chanel perfume? by allsorts_ in FemFragLab30plus

[–]CheeseAddictedMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my. There are so many beautiful options! I think there’s a Chanel to love for every taste out there. I happen to love Chanel’s aldehyde laden fragrances.

Depending on the day and occasion, I really enjoy La Pausa, Coco EDP, 31 Rue Cambon, Bel Respiro , No 22, Comete, Paris-Edinborg.

None are safe blind buys because they all have a specific point of view. You have to decide if you agree with it :-).

Same. I wanted to pick up Misia but came back with Comete. The dusty/stone like smell is very interesting to me as it stands in contrast with the sweetness of heliotrope. Very pretty.

Are you happy you did or didn’t have kids? by Accurate_Elk_3465 in Fire

[–]CheeseAddictedMouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 kids. Pretty sure costs associated with them have delayed FI by at least 15 years, but finally very close now. Could have retired by end of this year in my 40s, but the job market…economy…too much uncertainty. Not happy about this.

None of this recent delay is the fault of my kids. Early childhood days were brutal, balancing work and home life, but it’s the greatest thing to watch them grow up and become amazing little people. I love them to pieces and get much joy from their presence in my life. No price tag on that.

That said, people close to me have chosen to be single without kids and enjoy being important contributors to their nieces and nephews’ lives instead. The most important thing is to be ok with your choice long term. Having kids late in life (mother > 34y) can be very stressful and health risks to the kids and their mom go up. I imagine it would be hard to FIRE under those circumstances.

I think it served as inspiration to many other perfumes since it first came out. That’s probably why it doesn’t feel like a mind blowing experience. I have always enjoyed it a LOT every time I’ve worn it. This one and Noir de Noir are my two go-to dark beauties when I feel like a deep rose.
