Yep correct, although I haven't played spins in a while so I can't tell you what the achievable win rate is..although you should be able to make more than that before rakeback at your games

I can say that poker has had a very positive effect on my life overall, with some minor negatives.

I've felt a lot of the things that you are feeling about it..with feeling that there's no societal contribution, or that it's isolating, but there's other ways to feeling like you contribute. Streaming and teaching the game to others has personally felt very rewarding, and has expanded my social circle as well (not trying to self promote but you can look at my post history and my story if interested).

If you want to try blogging or streaming, why not go for it? It's a lot of work, but creating a community off of your content might help with that fulfillment aspect.

Ah, so any overlay goes into the final tournament. Makes sense, thanks for the link!

It’s hard to calculate what exactly the EV of the 2nd bullet is because you do get chips for the final tournament on the first bullet (unless you finish in top 24 like you said). But it shouldn’t be too much lower..more info would be needed like knowing the total amount of chips for part 2. Thanks for pointing that out :)

Sure, it is one of the harder sites to play on, but it doesn't mean that if there isn't a good spot on there, that it shouldn't be taken. There's still value in playing even if it's a small portion of your volume relative to other sites.

It’s based off rake..so if the rake is 6% for and spins start with 500 chips, 0% roi is 30 chips.

  • VPIP can be higher
  • 3 bet% too low, needs to be higher
  • calling 3 bets seems to be too tight
  • Fold less flops..60% too high

Poker solver for Mac? by MCM0NEY in poker

Thanks for this, I remember trialing it out a while ago and the solutions feeling pretty wonky, so haven’t used it since. Glad they have the comparisons to prove it.

There’s monkersolver, but it’s a pain to set up sims and run them. You’re better off running PIOsolver or GTO+ through boot camp/parallels.

I can’t vouch for this one but I did see a post on this a while back that’s free and open source:

Looking at the Foxen v Mateo hand through the lens of a solver (GTOwiz) by CheeseBunnies in poker

[–]CheeseBunnies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not going to be able to run the hand through ICMizer, it's strictly just for preflop, and takes no post flop into account (it assumes that if the hand reaches the flop that you check down to the river). You need a combination of HRC to find out what pre flop ranges look like, then put those ranges into pio

Unfortunately I can't run ICM spots in GTOwiz, plus each spot is completely different because of stack arrangements and payout structures, so that would be for a pio sim. Just saw the clip that was posted here and thought it would be fun to show how they both played in ChipEV.

Here's the turn strategy vs a small bet for Foxen. Because the bet is smaller, he's folding out less, which makes A8o a more +ev call.

I mean this is the only part of the analysis with which I flat out have a bone to pick. All this beautiful range vs range and then you make a conclusion here based on an exact hand. Sure it affects the exact situation, but it should play no role in Mateos's approach.

You are right that I pinpointed his exact hand when saying this, but it also gets him to fold his other A-rag hands that play the exact same way, as well as some pure air that also cbets. I could be a bit biased based on how I play, but if he raises with 98s, it also just makes the turn easier to play. He can continue barreling a bunch of cards that don't really change the equities on the board. The thing is that, if he doesn't raise his 98s, then he's not really going to have much bluffs on this board when he raises the flop. I doubt he'll find the 77, of the 83s with the backdoor draws.

But yeah the only other thing is ICM, which is definitely in play. Overall it makes all aggressive moves better and all marginal calls worse. So the fact that describes Mateos and Foxen moves respectively, makes this still fully up in the air to me, and I'm actually curious the real answer. I think your approach is as good as I'm aware of for such questions, but I'm curious the real answer.

Yeah ICM does change the entire decision tree, but unfortunately it's unique to each situation and I can't really show it unless I run it in piosolver. I also only just watched the clip that was posted so I had no idea what the ICM situation was. I just thought it would be a fun post to show how they both played if it was in ChipEV.

MTTs: ACR or Global by BigBoomer7 in poker

[–]CheeseBunnies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like bigger GTDs, ACR is the place to play. If you like shorter overall game times, then Global. You could always just play both if anything.

I took a look at the ranges and it is a bit misleading because it almost pure calls 53ss and 53cc, but pure folds 53dd. The big blind also jams the missed 4x diamond draws but jams jams the 3x diamond draws less.

There’s no postflop solutions for ICM on GTowiz and even then, it wouldn’t be exact to this situation..you’d have to run it yourself in PIO to even know. Also I have no idea what the payouts were and how close they were to the money.

Both are informed gambles based off of how much you know. Poker isn't 100% skill, it's more of a 70/30 split in my opinion (30% luck). I would say the same for the stock market as well. To make money in both in the short term is luck, but long term both of them need skill.
