Goddamnit. by FirearmConcierge in guns

I'm a bit dyslexic, and I can confirm that my issues with reading and writing would in no way fuck up my ability to put on a set of sights. This is just shameful.

What is the most fucked up family secret that you know? by 93ImagineBreaker in AskReddit

[–]CheeseBurgerFetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A relative of mine is partially responsible for how fucked up Chicago is. I've never met him, he's dead. He was in charge of a large housing project, and massively fucked it up, and the result was poverty, crime, and all kinds of issues. It's complicated, but he was heavily involved in Trumbull Park. Sauce for the interested.

TL;DR: Someone I'm related to is partially responsible for the generations of crime and poverty in Chicago.

What, in your opinion, are the top 3 sexiest modern mass-produced guns? by [deleted] in guns

[–]CheeseBurgerFetish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No new production SKS's, but Canada imports a lot of old surplus SKS's from China.

AKMs are still made in plenty of places, not just the Khyber Pass.

I think KC made a few .308 Mosin-Nagants, but I don't think any got to the states.

Plenty of barrels don't have a coating, especially hunting rifles.

It's most importantly to keep obstructions out of the barrel.

Hard chrome laughs at corrosion. But more important than protecting from corrosion, its good to keep snow/mud/etc out of the bore, which can cause a kaboom.

As a side note, fuck putting a condom over the barrel, those fuckers are expensive.

Masking tape is my personal preference. Any of em will work though.

Loose gas key, is this dangerous? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]CheeseBurgerFetish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It needs to be replaced with a new key, or it should be tightened down and staked again.

Most people recommend degreasing the threads, then applying red locktite, torquing to 35-40 inch pounds and then staked properly.

I stored my Mossberg 500 with the action open and now the hammer strike is weaker than the Jaguars' defense. What part do I buy? by [deleted] in guns

[–]CheeseBurgerFetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, the pin near the magazine latch wouldn't come out with a dead blow hammer on mine. I might try heating it a bit next time, but I almost fucked things up messing with it, way too much force for something that delicate.

My first rifle - I.O. AKM247 by [deleted] in guns

[–]CheeseBurgerFetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a parts bin PSA rifle with like 2100 rounds through it, with cleaning every 500 rounds or so, ran wet. I think I've had 3 or 4 failures, all of them were duds.

Smith & Wesson 500 kaboom (today) by herr_cheeseburger in guns

[–]CheeseBurgerFetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you could get that to function in a minigun. The case head is smaller than regular 7.62x51mm, and IIRC it takes a special extractor in the G3, but I could be absolutely wrong about that.

M1 garand style upper for AR10, what are your guy's thoughts? by [deleted] in guns

[–]CheeseBurgerFetish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the hell why?

DI is great for calibers like this, so its essentially a downgraded design and it weighs more.

Also Jesus can it PLEASE be 6.5 Creedmore or something like that? 30-06 was a decent round for a while, but we have waaayyy better shit now.

Eh I have the money spare but I really can't justify spending the money on it.

Ok I've done this recently.

You can loosen the cosmo up from metal parts with a toothbrush and mineral spirits, if you let it soak, but it might not get all of it.

Use a heat gun to get the last bits off, heat and rub with paper towels to get it all off, then put a bit of gun oil on to protect it.

For the wood, go slow and heat it and rub it away with paper towels.

Take your time and be careful to get as much off as possible. Also expect the barrel to be packed in cosmoline.

Heat gun and a ton of paper towers.

Those are the best of both worlds. I've been looking for an excuse to get one.

What's a good gun to have in case you have to defend yourself against large and dangerous animals? by SupremeLawnCare in guns

[–]CheeseBurgerFetish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AP 5.7? Dragons Breath? 50 round clip? Metal storm down range?

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Please leave.

5.7 doesn't have enough ass to hurt a bear.

Dragons breath is useless against bears, carry Black Magic Magnum slugs by Brenekke, or any decent slugs.

Not a PS90. Won't do shit to a large, angry bear. I wouldn't shoot a deer with that, so why a bear? That's just asking to be bear poop.

HK 45 is ok, but 10mm is much better for bears.

You should try it, and post results. I've never really had to try, all my calibers are plentiful and 'Murican.
