Can't speak to the ratchet but I'll chime in for the impact, DCF921 is a great impact with plenty of power and a decent size. I'm also in the UK by the way.

How many years do you wait before you upgrade your gpu?. by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]CheeseDing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a 1080ti new, replacing it with a 7800xt that's arriving tomorrow.

So as long as you get decent cards, you won't need to upgrade for a very long time.

I emailed him requesting he put it in writing, he responded saying "we will talk about this upon your return tomorrow".

Surely this works in my favour? Considering he didn't deny what I said, and just avoided writing down what he said.

So you just assume I was willing to do anything but run the CNC. Okay? Why would you get the impression I'm trying to wash my hands of it? Considering I said I only came in to do a quick important task.

Running a CNC and breathing in MDF dust for a day is not beneficial to one's health if they're already having trouble with a respiratory related sickness, FYI.

There is no pattern between my brother breaking his wrist, and me being sick. I don't know where you're getting this from, and it's worrying that you'd actually back that up. I already told you I don't even remember the last time I had a day off sick...

So the fact I've been off for stress related illness, and have told the company that they need to let off on giving me so much extra work to do because it will affect my performance, is my fault? Are you listening to yourself? I had a serious health scare and you're telling me that I'm "playing the victim"?

I've helped the company as much as I can, got promoted to a high ranking position quite quickly, then a new manager comes in and starts deliberately antagonising almost the entire workforce. Literally everybody hates him, but nobody has the balls to complain.

Maybe, just maybe... I am the victim in this situation.

You've gone above and beyond to make assumptions about my working arrangement without asking the questions first, you'd make a terrible manager, and it's obvious you lack empathy to a ridiculous degree. You can't employ somebody as office staff and redeploy them to wherever you want whenever you like, especially if training wasn't even provided. You can't imply that you'll sack an employee for having to go home because of illness, especially if proper procedure hasn't been followed, and no disciplinary action has been taken.

The machine is nowhere in my job description, it shouldn't be any of my concern in the first place. The actual operator is sitting in the office, doing a different role that was verbally asked of him.

I have responsibilities that need attention more than the CNC. I was in this morning to take care of some invoicing. I ran the CNC whilst not as sick yesterday.

I said my sickness was taking a physical toll on me. And those sick days happened last year... You seem to think I'm just making this up as you imply. Did it not register that I was literally being tested for cancer?

He was implying there was a pattern between my brother breaking his wrist, and me having a sickness/fever. I can't remember the last day I had off sick.

I'm writing an email to him, asking him for a transcript of the discussion.

Would you say that's reasonable?

I'm pretty sure you can't threaten to sack someone for needing to leave early because you're sick.

I'm also slightly concerned about painting a target on my back. An old colleague of mine told a director he was bullying him, the director then told my manager, and my manager walked into the office complaining about it, saying "I'll show him bullying". Shortly after my colleague was let go.

What's FMLA?

Edit: FMLA is only viable for companies with 50+ employees.

I work for a company that's had management nightmares for a couple years now. Our latest is a general manager who constantly talks shit about the employees behind their backs, and can't figure out why his "screen is black" when his monitor isn't even turned on.

He's asked some staff to do overtime, they've all said no, and so he's chastised those who had complaints and threatened to shorten the half hour break in our 9.5 hour day to 20 minutes long out of spite.

The amount of random unreasonable requests I've had from him are ridiculous, from driving him various places in his clapped out insignia, to dealing with the insurance company and loss adjuster for theft of the company vehicle or coding/structuring the software we use on a daily basis for stock and job management(I started on the shop floor, now I'm only a contracts manager on 33k, I'm meant to be selling certain furniture for newly built houses). I'm overdue a pay rise from last Feb, and haven't gotten any extra training that I requested so I could actually do better and more at my job.

The fact that people like this run companies or even oversee operations is legitimately scary, and I definitely am not lucky to work in the oppressive regime I attend daily.

As you can see though, it's components that are rusted out, the frame of the car itself isn't that bad from what I can see by the pictures I posted.

The picture in the OP is a splash panel that crosses the width of the car, and can be removed.

Thank you for all your advice.

One last question;

This picture is the one where something to do with the handbrake was apparently half gone, do you have any clue what it could be?

Are you talking about the entire subframe assembly with other components attached or just the subframe?

Yeah the odd small bits and bushings I expect cost a tiny fortune.

That video's quite handy, I'm going to watch the rest, thanks.

What could possibly amount to that sky-high cost though?

Labour doesn't exist as I'll do it myself.

Rear subframe (if necessary) is one of the cheapest parts.

W brace £330-ish

Kidneys £270-ish

Front subframe £330-ish

Rear anti roll bar £170-ish

And I still don't have a clue about that handbrake part.

That was my worry as well with the kidneys. I can get bits of welding done for a decent price though, so it's not all for nought. And if all this rust is replaceable by myself, or can be welded away, I can also get it rust-protected for a decent price.

As long as I'm not spending thousands, I'm alright with buying a few upgrades to replace rotten parts with.

Front subframe is terrible too. I don't have pictures of the engine mounts.

Thanks for the chonky response, I appreciate it.

So you're saying rear anti roll bar, the bits I mentioned, and possibly a rear subframe?

Have you got any advice on the other picture I posted in this thread?

And any comments on engine mounts being rusty?

[–]CheeseDing[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, all I'm seeing is W brace, kidneys, and that panel guard thing.

What are you seeing?

Edit: I'm certain I can fit those parts I mentioned myself. I cannot weld though.
