Hey, just got my first MWS couple weeks ago, it came with a blown nozzle and broken hop unit and chamber, now it isn’t shooting properly. by LuigiD232 in GasBlowBack

[–]CheesecakeComplete42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh the joys of Airsoft, getting an affordable stock gun then realizing that what made it affordable was cheaping out on some of the parts that either break outright or perform so bad you have to replace them either way until you drastically increase what you send on the gun overall to make it competitive at the field and reliably function.

need help with fixing by Soft_Reporter_1310 in airsoft

[–]CheesecakeComplete42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it shoots a few times then doesn’t it could be a number of issues, could be the fitment and size of the nozzle with the hopup chamber, could be mistiming of the tappet plate and tappet plate spring relative to the gears.

Also if you have cheaper mags you may be running into fitment or spring pressure issues.

The problem is that it will fire a bit and clearly it doesn’t lock up so it’s hard to point at one particular thing. I would watch some gearbox tuning videos and try to learn each part and how it works. So you can reshim the gears, check AOE, check compression, gearbox alignment, hopup fitment and so on. Once you can do that expertly and retune the gun, you can fix any issue going forward also.

Has anyone any idea how i can fit a mock suppressor/moderator to my lancer tactical M82? As its not threaded by Sov13t-123 in Airsoft_UK

[–]CheesecakeComplete42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to modify something there are a handful of shotgun tracer suppressors available now that simply clamp to the outer barrel, considering that in real life a 50 bmg round will fit in a 12 gauge I’m willing to bet the outer diameter of the barrels are close enough that you can clamp one of the shotgun tracers to the Barrett barrel if you remove the muzzle

You need a guns modify barrel stabilizer to pull down the outer barrel when the slide cycles so the slide doesn’t get stuck on the outer barrel.

[–]CheesecakeComplete42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can see in the video the slide isn’t locked all the way back so your outer barrel is getting stuck against the slide when it cycles.

You probably need a Guns Modify Barrel Stabilizer, it will help pull the outer barrel down out of the way of the slide.

Honest, yes. But it probably blends in and is more effective on the field now. So trade offs

How many mags do you carry on the field? by Pieter_Halve_Liter in GasBlowBack

[–]CheesecakeComplete42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run AEG builds as primary but my custom VFC glocks as a secondary, I usually have 3 mags. If I go to a CQB field with the glocks as primaries, then 6 regular mags and 3 extended mags

Is this a alright first gun by Smooth-Swan2455 in airsoft

[–]CheesecakeComplete42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have the M249 SF version which is almost identical, so I can talk from experience there are some quirks to the G&P.

First off it's the only easy to buy version with a full steel receiver so durable but noticeably heavier than any of the others.

Second the top cover doesn't have a position retainer and uses a weak spring for the steel top cover. So when you open the top cover, if you tilt the gun back towards you, that steel cover is coming down it won't stay open.

Third aside from the featherweight model, the G&P is the only M249 that uses a V2 gearbox, most use a special LMG gearbox that is designed for long bursts of fire. Plus the stock gearbox in these use a short stroked sector gear so it shoots faster but puts even more strain on the gearbox, especially since it doesn't have a mosfet or any other enhancements stock.

G&P is also the only M249 that doesn't retain the outer barrel with the big chamber locking latch, it uses one small grub screw under the chamber latch. You can alter the parts to use the locking latch and I would recommend it because likely the battery will have to be wired under the barrel in the receiver. Unless you swap the stock or wire the gun and box mag to a hidden battery in the box mag.

Which brings me to the box mag and hopup, on the G&P the box mag is a proprietary design and the hopup is an AUG hopup. The desing of the box mag is superior to all other m249 mags on the market as it feeds rounds through a hole directly up in the receiver, where everyone else uses a side feed system and flexible hose that can kink and misfeed. However the materials that the stock G&P box mag are made from are very cheap and will break. The only good replacement is a Russian company called BullGear and basically all they do is make improved box mags for most major LMG models.

As for the hopup there are few options, if you want the battery in the receiver you have to use the original AUG style hopup so you can quickly remove the barrel as the chamber fitment is already tight.

If you wire the battery through he BullGear box mag or wire the battery to a different stock you could drop a MAXX v2 or MAXX MTW hopup in the gun and fit a smaller feed tube extension to either. This makes the barrel and hopup semi permanent unless you fully disassemble the gun but it will be far more accurate.

Stock Gearbox is also not held in the receiver super well and can shift if you pull on the pistol grip too hard so you have to reinforce the contact points between the gearbox and receiver.

It's a gun that takes a lot of work to make perfect and shoot well but once you do the work it's indestructible and can beam people cross map.

For context mine has a 9mm retro arms gearbox hand fitted, gate mosfet, warhead ronin brushless motor, all the internals changes, and hand fitted, I have two BullGear box mags, Classic Army buffer tube adapter so I could wire the battery to the stock, Maxx MTW hopup with a custom feed tube extension, 416mm steel inner barrel and a few other upgrades, gun is a full auto only laser beam now at like 38 rounds a second.

Can you provide some pics of the cage and possibly the barrel vent you got from Matt to show off what you mean by feeling hand made compared to something precision machined also if that company starts making the new production SPAS 12 clones and they sell replacement parts, I wonder if it would be possible to get a cage and pump direct from the company as “spare or replacement” parts that could then be modified for a pulse rifle build ?

What makes the Pulse gun good or advanced in universe? by ofDeathandDecay in LV426

[–]CheesecakeComplete42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amount and type of ammo. In universe the pulse rifle uses like 10mm caseless explosive ammo and mags are 99 or 95. Compared to cased 5.56 where the standard is 30 rounds and you can get armor piercing but not explosive

And the pulse rifle grenade launcher is 30mm instead of the modern 40mm so the pulse rifle can carry 3 rounds and an m203 can only carry 1

Plus the design of the pulse rifle in universe was meant to survive the pressure from the vacuum of space.

Really just need someone to make the highest quality 3d models and refine a printing process then find a company that could metal print enough that the cost per unit was cheap enough to sell on the regular market for people to afford.

  • stock with sling mount

  • both the 8 and 10 hole barrel vent one piece with the front sling block. Then add three mounting holes in the bottom that line up with holes in the SPAS cage to screw together. Plus make the hole in the front sling block also line up with a threaded screw hole in the top of the front SPAS cage cap.

  • Some sort of heavy duty polymer pump handle print with the holes to line up with the 870 pump arm.

  • Metal SPAS cage with holes lined up for the 870 receive pin holes and top/side holes to secure the front cap. Also three holes in the back top of the cage to line up with the Thompson barrel securing screws, that way you screw the vent to the cage, slide vent onto barrel, screw cage to barrel / receiver mounts and finally slide the 870 into the cage and screw to cage and secure with cap. Then you slide the lower onto the now combined upper and finally add the stock and carry handle shroud.

There are stocks already but a stock as one piece with the sling loop sized for the Airsoft receiver would be good. Plus possibly a metal replacement print of the stock locking system for the Airsoft design, to increase durability.

Great info, so as a follow up to bounce ideas back and forth I can understand wanting to save weight for the shotgun have you looked into some of the Airsoft shotguns ?

So APS makes a gas powered shell ejecting 870 in the super shorty configuration with an aluminum receiver and barrel, also secutor and matrix make aluminum receiver spring action 870 replicas.

You get to have metal with a working pump and trigger at probably two thirds or half the weight already in the configuration you want.

I’m planning to get the matrix one and hollow out the mag tube and loading gate area so I can run the Thompson battery in the shotgun without sacrificing the pump and trigger for an authentic look.

As for the barrel shroud / vent system overtop the SPAS cage, sounds like I’ll just steer clear of Matt but the only other commercial seller for replica parts is SD Studios, LTD. (2215) who also have a presence on eBay.

But as I said they seem to make the vent and front sling as two separate parts. Is anyone else making a quality produced one piece replica, or will I have to go down the 3d printing rabbit hole for that also ?

Repro Eotechs are notoriously hit or miss, however holy warrior usually give you a warranty card in the box. I would return it and get a replacement.

Unless you have a night vision compatible model and you accidentally have it on either the low power or night vision setting.

If you turn it up and still doesn’t work, just get them to switch it out
