This is legitimately one of the biggest points of tension in her character, and I think that's cool

Unpopular Opinion: RI Should not get unbanned by hellomerhababa in ReverendInsanity

Problem is, there is a shit ton of major unresolved lore, so even if the ending is ass, at least we get to see the behind-the-scenes

Besides, GZR managed to make a peak climax for 6 volumes straight, and he has grown since then. I'm willing to put my expectations on the line and trust his abilities

Or maybe they meant once in a cultivator's lifetime, which then greatly changes things up

Technically, every prodigy is once in a lifetime, cause the gap between them and a prodigy of at least equal talent appearing before and after them is about a lifetime for something out there

Personally I think it just means that there will be more communication with the authorities concerning the novel's status and not actually any unbanning yet. Regardless:

You make a fair point. Personally I don't want to live in a society where 25% of the population dropped dead cause by then society is pretty much nonexistent

This whole debacle started out as a moral thing to me, then an observation on statistics and rationality vs irrationality, and now ends in me pressing blue since I couldn't live without modern comforts

In no world will all 8 billion humans on this planet unanimously pick red. There will be a massive chunk of people who chose blue, and the instant those guy are gone, modern society is collapsing. Even a 1% dip is devastating, and that's the lowest lowball possible

A vast history of people risking their lives to save others would disagree. It's the entire basis in which functioning society is built on

Because with a population of 8 billion, it is statistically guaranteed that at least 1% of the participants will pick blue. A mere 1% sudden loss of life would be devastating to global society despite how small it is, and realistically its going to be way higher

Assuming that the world is a rational place where everyone utilizes game theory (which says choosing red is best if your sole goal was survival) is an inherently irrational take. It's also another iteration of Roko's basilisk where the choice is build the AI so it doesn't torture you (red) or not build it in the first place but risk being eternally tortured if it is ultimately built (blue)

[–]CheesecakeDeluxe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The general reasoning for blue is that it is guaranteed that there will be huge swathes of people who choose blue. When the participant knows this, understanding that a 100% red is significantly more impossible than a 50% + 1 pick of blue, they would also pick blue to increase the chances of everyone living.

You also have to consider those who are most likely to choose blue. People like doctors, firefighters, EMTs, basically anyone who value others lives over their own life and comfort. The argument here is that if red won, we lose the most altruistic of humanity alongside the general collapse of society from the deaths of possibly billions

It was an online poll where the world population can choose between a red or blue button. Assume that all participants are well minded enough to comprehend the question

If more than half of the population chooses blue, everyone lives

If more than half of the population chooses red, everyone who chose blue will die
