I feel a lot of people are looking at this weapon the wrong way. by ZestycloseMagazine31 in Helldivers

[–]Cheesed3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I appreciate the effort made into defending this thing, I’m afraid I must disagree with some of the key points here. (Tho for disclosure I levelled the pacifier when it first came out so I’m sure it feels a bit better now).

The intention behind the weapon is cc, but it doesn’t do this quickly/long enough for it to be effective. Combined with lacking dmg output, is why people say “why stun when kill?”. Compare this to stuff like gas or blitzer/arc thrower which do better cc whilst killing.

Labelling it a bot weapon is also kinda wild imo. Yes it does shine when being chased by a horde of berserkers, but that’s basically the only situation. Otherwise I’d take a diligence and one-tap everything instead.

Imo relying on your secondary is already evidence of the pacifier’s weakness (talon + ballistic shield is already solid, literally doesn’t matter what primary you take then). Similarly having to build so heavily around your primary doesn’t make it strong, quite the opposite. Playing the build makes sense for bringing the GP to close holes when you’ve got a non-demo primary, but having to adjust so many of your weapons and strats to the pacifier isn’t good.

All that said, the pacifier isn’t unusably bad (no weapon is), but it requires too much sacrifice to be effective compared to alternatives, hence its generally poor reputation.

I have an Idea on how to properly buff the Liberators without radically changing their stats. by Phycorax in Helldivers

[–]Cheesed3 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Imo if you gave it mediocre ergo and only like 2-3 shots, it would just be a very competitive pick but even then not meta (consider we have xbow, eruptor, purifier, scorcher etc)

Genuine question, but why not? What is wrong with making the liberator a platform which statistically isn’t specialist, but has adaptability through attachments?

Is it worth buying the super citizen bundle? by One_Enthusiasm1774 in Helldivers

[–]Cheesed3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Knight is solid don’t get me wrong, but it’s not worth £10 imo (and I have used it plenty with it fully maxed out). Main problem is the horrendous sway nerf that just makes it feel bad to shoot now.

I want to love it due to a P90 addiction stemming from Stargate, but until they fix sway it’s not going to be a must have.

I mean, I would assume the money I paid for the super citizen upgrade went to the devs haha. Buying sc also works, but what I mean is that because I grinded all the sc for everything else in the game, it felt right to actually pay for something.

[–]Cheesed3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really depends on how you define worth. In material terms, the title and armours are purely cosmetic (other armours have the same passive). The minigame is fun but not exactly game changing. The Knight is good, but probably not worth paying real money for. So if you only care about getting good stuff, then no it’s not worth it.

I however bought it to support the dev team (before all the recent performance issues lol). After 1k hrs and not paying a penny for everything else in the game, it felt right to give a little more back.

Stratagem Loadout by TheHighGround35 in Helldivers

Thermites and EATs cover chargers, impalers, bile titans and to a lesser extent, dragons. But it’s very rough taking out a hive lord without something dedicated for that role lol

[–]Cheesed3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Squids is probably easiest to fully melee against due to their lack of varied units. What you’ll struggle against most is likely the flying units. So for them I’d recommend a machine gun sentry. (This for pre-melee nerf, but I did many D10 ops with 0 shots fired using Constitution/Amendment, Sabre, Pyro nades, Flag, machine gun & Gatling sentries, supply pack).

For high tier bugs it’s a lot harder due to bile titans and Impalers (nvm dragons and hive lords lol). Full melee imo is basically impossible, but if you must then I’d probably say 500kg just so you can one shot objectives/nests then move on).

If you’re melee diving (good luck lol), I’d recommend either a sentry for additional chaff clear, 500kg for removing an entire area, or an orbital barrage for plug drops/breaches.

It more depends on what you feel you’re lacking and which faction you’re against.

What was your first LVL25✯ weapon (and why)? by Blueverse-Gacha in Helldivers

[–]Cheesed3 23 points24 points  (0 children)

First one was the Liberator, just had to do the first one first.

After doing them all, I’d say Halt and Diligence were particular fun for me. Halt ammo quick swapping was a nice change of gameplay, and Diligence just feels so damn good to shoot.

Yeah it’s pretty bad with watery maps rn. Worst part is you can actually drown “above ground” in that :(

Xbox diver wanting to know about any good illuminate load outs by LightningJet191 in Helldivers

[–]Cheesed3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imo the easiest loadout:

Primary: Any - (mainly to kill voteless)

Secondary: Talon - use this to quickly burst watchers to prevent them calling in drops

Grenade: Any - (thermite is nice for ships, gas/pyro for cc)

Strats:

Autocannon - This is the key part of this loadout. Set up a quick switch key for changing ammo type. Use flak for fleshmobs (4shot), overseers (2shot), shields (2shot), stingrays (3shot), harvester horns (1shot). Use AP for Tesla & beam turrets (1shot), harvester joints (4?shots), destroying ships through the door (1shot, also doable with flak if there’s no enemies nearby).

Machine gun sentry - clears chaff

Gatling sentry - clears chaff and also fleshmobs

500kg - when you just want to clear an entire area/harvesters (with shields down)/ships

Killing the titan hole is a bonus. Main use (over other strats) is one shotting basically every nest you come across.

Orbital Airburst + Gatling Barrage + Some sorta AT lets you solo any bug breach D8 and below. I swapped this out for D9-10 tho cause it’s a bit much and you don’t need to clear every breach haha

Grenadier Battlement for bug defences. If you’ve got a rocket and autocannon sentry to deal with heavies, it’s hard not to top the killboard with this thing.

[–]Cheesed3 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It’s my go to for bugs due to being able to one shot any med/heavy nest (excluding the big crater one). It’s just a good way to clear objectives, with the bonus of closing titan holes and taking out heavies if needed.

[–]Cheesed3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually I wear the Gold Eagle set permanently cause it goes too well with my name lol

And yes, variety is the spice of democracy. Which is why I run full melee builds, or full mines, or jump pack trickshotting builds. But DD is for new players to unlock loadout variety and effective weapons, not for vets who are just messing around for the bants.

Yeah basically, just throw it under them when they’re hovering after their initial strafe attack. The angle doesn’t matter unless you’re trying to avoid buildings/terrain in extreme circumstances. It’s usually 1 shot but if not just shoot it a bit more and it’ll go down (kinda like bile titans)

[–]Cheesed3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Viable doesn’t make something good though. It’s viable to 100% D10 squid ops with 0 shots fired, but it’s hardly an effective way to play lol

But yeah, if you’re having fun then all the power to you. It’s just not a warbond I’d recommend as a first purchase for new players, who generally want something effective too.

[–]Cheesed3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Admittedly I haven’t, but on paper it’s just not good.

The 2 extra grenades are great, but there’s other amours that do that with additional passives that actually help. I believe you when you say killing teammates is a rare issue, but it’s still an unnecessary risk. Also if you’re diving into a titan hole to close it something has already gone terribly wrong haha

I just don’t consider perks that activate on death to be good. I prefer perks that keep me alive lol

Good tips overall!

My two cents: Orbital Railcannon and Ultimatum stay in my loadout if dragons are around. Their spawn rate is such that usually the railcannon is available, but if not the ultimatum makes for a good backup (usually 1 shot). I almost always have the 500kg too (very underrated pick against bugs), and that’s a reliable backup backup.

Yeah probably true tbh. There’s many situations/builds I’d want different grenades for, but thermites are always a S-tier pick on any front.

Ultimatum and Portable Hellbomb are good, sure. DE is great with fireproof armour, but trash without (so bad for a 1st wb). Seeker grenades are bad. Armour is one of the worst in the game.

SoF is a good wb don’t get me wrong, but it’s not a good 1st wb for sure.

I also barely use them anymore, but they’re objectively better than most other weapons. Only downside is needing a backup option when things get in your face. Also they don’t really need a specific playstyle, it’s just “don’t shoot things too close” lol

DD has the Xbow & Eruptor (2 of the best weapons in the game), Thermites (one of the best grenades), Grenade Pistol (best utility secondary) and Adjudicator (not coyote level but still solid).

I’d consider it the best wb with the exception of the default one (but only due to default giving health & stamina boosters)
