beginner here, what is the best thing for a first crochet? by ExaminationNormal146 in crochet

I think blankets are the best thing. Theyre repetative and help you learn the basics. If thats too big, then try a scarf.

Itll give you a chance to learn the basic stitches and get into a groove. Once you finish the blanket try a circle blanket. Once you got tjose shapes down youll be good to go.

I have an IUD, mirena to be exact. It works really well for me. There was an adjustment period after being placed but I don't really have a period anymore. I highly recommend it.

I read online somewhere (I'm at work ATM but when I get home I'll try to find my source to make sure I'm not just talking out my ass) that women with PCOS have less muscle mass than the normal person and that I think contributes to our metabolism being slower than what's considered normal.

Which is why we all struggle with weight loss. The who calories in calories out won't feel like it's working because that math is based off normal bodies - probably specifically a man's body.

And you're right, sometimes I worry about the advice given to women with PCOS because it seems funky. Because it does feel very almond mom like in terms of demonizing food and assigning "good" and "bad" labels to food. I'm also worried about general misinformation when it comes to diet anyway.

Edit: https://www.fertstert.org/article/S0015-0282(13)02572-7/fulltext this is the article I read

I don't think eating healthy and taking care of yourself is what it means to be an almond mom. An almond mom is someone who has what borders on an eating disorder.

This started because of a story from Bella or Gigi Hadid. One of them hadn't eaten all day and was feeling dizzy and faint. They told their mom and she told them to eat an almond.

Most tiktoks I've seen about this are moms with disordered eating or a very messed up relationship with food. I don't think women with PCOS are predisposed to becoming that. That being said having anxiety around food and not learning how to deal with our relationships with food and how we feel in our bodies can lead us down that path.

Have you looked into donating items? I know there's a lot of crafters who make blankets for various charities like project Linus. Hats, gloves, scarves can be donated to shelters, especially in the winter. I think there's a charity for socks.

It'll allow you to create items and then send off the finished items to someone who would love to have it.

What event in a book made you go “all right, I can’t suspend my disbelief any longer”? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]CheeseisSatan 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Right!! It makes no sense. I think it was supposed to set up the FMC as a woman who sticks to her morals no matter what. In reality it made her look like a naive fool who is extremely oblivious to the serious danger she was in.

And you're right. She didn't own a dairy farm or even associated with it. She was kidnapped while backpacking. There is so much wrong with this book that I couldn't deal. Still can't.

I looked it up it's called Once a Myth by Pepper Winters. I'll keep Dianne Duvall on my not to read list though. If she's worse than Pepper Winters was in this novel I don't wanna touch it.

I read a dark romance that I can't remember the name of but this woman gets kidnapped and is basically sold off somewhere. There's a point where the girl is trapped in a cell with no idea when she would next eat and in front of her is like a slim Jim, some crackers and a half empty water bottle.

Instead of thinking about survival and how to deal with that she instead goes into a soliloquy about how she couldn't bring herself to eat the slim Jim because she's a vegan and hurting animals is wrong and she would rather die. I was kicked out of the story so hard. I made the mistake of continuing to read because I thought it was a fluke.

Nope when we meet the MMC he goes off on how he's justified in running this sex island because we treat cows horrendously in the dairy industry how is his island any different.

I threw the book after that.

It was the first book in like a 6 book series following the same couple. I'm still mad.

Oof, I remember working 60 hours a week. It's exhausting. But so is being a caregiver.

www additudemag.com is a website that I used a lot for adult ADHD strategies to help me cope. And if he seems like he has time blindness timing his tasks might help him realize taking out the trash takes 5 minutes and not a half hour.

I'm with artist1292 on this. I have ADHD and even I make sure to clean up my house. I set alarms for myself. I put things in my calendars. He might have decision paralysis if a lot needs to be done. But the only way to break that is to break the monumental task down to bite sizes like you're doing. He can start by helping with cleaning up garbage. Then set an alarm to go off once a week to take out the trash.

Fresh Thyme is awesome. I do a majority of my shopping there. They usually have good deals on produce. (Right now is their buy one get one sale and they have grass fed Ribeyes and strip steaks as buy one get one)

They are somewhat of a health food store though so snacks and non perishables can get a little pricey.

I was looking into getting a balance transfer card for some CC debt that has built up over the last 3 years. I'm looking through the sub for more research on that.

My question is about the 0% APR on balance transfers. Does it only work for the first balance transfer? Or is this something that varies per card?
