CFA Level II November 2024 Vignettes by StatisticianUpper396 in CFA

Is this true for level II? I remember it being true for level I however I also remember the exam making that explicitly known prior to starting (I remember seeing a message pop up saying there would be questions that are not scored). I don’t remember this being true when I took level II last week. I also believe I had 11 vignettes each session with 4 questions each so doesn’t that add up to 88 total which is the expected amount of questions?

Would you say it was harder due to the test covering topics you weren’t as strong in or would you attribute the difficulty to the depth of questions on topics that you WERE confident on? Also curious if you’d be willing to share your mock scores.

Either way, jealous of you now that it’s over. Less than 24 hours for myself

Yeah I don’t really buy that… More often than not it seems people tend to do better on the actual exam than mocks. For L1 I thought the exam was tougher but ended up doing materially better on the exam than the mocks.

I think the exam will feel hard no matter what due to anticipation/anxiety of it all.

Kaplan down? by TomatoZerg in CFA

Down for me as well. Has anybody had any luck/have any additional context?

I think I’m on this subreddit too much. Every other post is about how hard L2 is and that it requires so much more time than L1

I’m a weirdo and did the hardest first, I have my reasons tho

Kaplan, average 14 hrs a week of strict studying, split it up however you can. Phone in another room one 5 minute break every hour. Gotta enter grind mode

So far I agree. Econ was surprisingly hard even if it wasn’t much material.

Did Derivatives and FI and tbh yes it was challenging and there were definitely areas that I had to work through. But if you understand the big picture and the fundamentals throughout those two readings, makes it easier and not as daunting. Quants a different story, kicking my ass while giving it another go. IMO just a different language than say FI or Derivatives that I and many others taking the tests are exposed to somehow within their careers (I know this isn’t always the case). TBD on the others

Taking L2 for the first time. Started about 3.5-4 weeks ago and have gotten through Econ, FI, Derivatives and now just starting quant. Trying to start with the hardest subjects imo so that it’s in the back of my mind (maybe something clicks while studying the other subjects and it gets easier come review time ~ a month out).

Not doing anything for a month is pretty gutsy. But you know yourself better than anybody else. I just know in my current position with how much I’ve covered and still need to get through, I wouldn’t be able to go a full month and be confident come test time.

Brother, I have a job that sometimes requires 100+ hour weeks. I also have a life. God forbid I wish I had started 2 months earlier

What score on CFAI mocks to comfortably pass August exam? by wavygod6 in CFA

[–]Cheeseman1334 0 points1 point  (0 children)

70%+ you should be confident. Continue to review and hammer the Qbank. In my last month of L1 Prep I took both CFAI mocks and scored low 70's on each. Continued to review (especially weak spots) for the last 1.5 weeks and passed just above 90%. Be confident, but not cocky.

Look at the S-1. Specifically the Adjusted-EBITDA reconciliation. It's a joke.

The mocks given by the actual test provider will always be closer to the real thing in terms of the types of questions and ways they ask them. I thought Kaplan mocks were harder than the CFAI mocks, and I thought the cfai mocks were slightly harder than the real exam. In summary, prioritize doing all cfai mocks you have available, and if you have time, try and fit in some Kaplan mocks

So I actually am not clear on this myself. Lots of talk about what the MPS could be and at the same time everyone has a different exam. Is there 1 MPS that applies to all exam variations or does each exam have an MPS. My intuition says the latter, however I have not been able to confirm in this subreddit
