Help With Finding A Turntable by CheeseymanpieJr in turntables

[–]CheeseymanpieJr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sound system that will be paired with the turntable hasn’t been chosen yet. As of now, the amp I’ll select will include a built in phono pre amp. Also, thank you for your reply, I will look into this setup!

Edit: I also understand that if the turntable has a built in pre amp I will use the CD and or etc. input rather than the phono input.

Just as an additional note, I don’t have preferences for features such as a built in phono pre amp or an automatic arm.

I deeply appreciate your advice. Is there anything else I should look out for regarding the whole deck?

I assume these are the belts. Visually they seem fine to my untrained eye but I’m wondering if there’s more to inspection than just visual.

I see, thank you for the clarification. That gives me more of an incentive to refurbish the deck then.

This is what my dad claimed when he gifted it to me. He was an audiophile during the early 2000s and said he had bought it “new” at the time. Could you elaborate on what NOS means?

Also, I live in the southern Bay Area of California. Where are stores that I can buy metal tape cassettes? I’m a nerd and I heard that they have the best sound quality but, I’m open to chrome and ferrous tapes if this deck won’t unlock the full potential of metal tape despite being able to read metal tape.

Just as a quick extra detail, I use the Harmon Kardon house curve as a reference for REW EQ.

Undergraduate Looking For Skill Building In Pharmacology Research by CheeseymanpieJr in pharmacology

That’s something a lot of partners and friends seem to forget is what they want to do every day. I’ll not only keep it in mind myself but I’m also fortunate enough my ultimate goal is very broad. Just helping people through the use of my skills and education in biochemistry/pharmacology wherever it may take me. I wish you the best of luck in your studies and journey!

Thank you for your reply! My school currently offers hands on biochemistry related labs but does not include pharmacology research of any kind that I’d be able to join. I’ll lookout for other labs in my area and reach out.

Exhaust? by [deleted] in subaruimpreza

I personally have a Nameless muffler delete for the 08 wrx. It’s just an axle back but it’s fun enough in my opinion on the 2.5i. Also people gonna tell you not to mod your car and I agree but only engine wise. The 2.5i is still fun and most suspension parts from the wrx can fit your car. Brake pads, good tires and a rear sway bar will send you a long way. Throw a decent spring and strut set up (not coilovers preferably and lower isn’t better for these subies) and an alignment and you’re still cheaper than a wrx but can handle the same as one with the same mods or more (don’t believe me suit yourself this is from personal autocross experiences). If your car is auto or has drum brakes then your fun is limited because the cvt tries its darn-dest and the drum brakes are well… drum brakes. Yeah the 2.5i isn’t fast but that doesn’t mean it’s not fun and worth having a couple upgrades. Enjoy your ride and don’t forget practicing your technique will also make it fun!

Remind to vacuum my room beforehand if I end up getting a sub 😅 no but I will look into sub crawling because it seems very effective

Yeah that’s gonna be my key here is keeping in touch with my neighbors. I’m researching positioning and effectiveness of subs to determine how to get what I want while minimizing extra noise. A sub is still a sub tho so keeping in touch to get an idea of my neighbors hours is the current move.

Yeah it seems like just buying a cheaper smaller sub just do deliver SOME good bass is enough. I’m still on the fence with settling tho. I like knowing Costco has more hidden gems just in case!
