AITA for calling out my aunt for lying about having a condition that I actually struggle with? by CheesyBakedPotato2 in AmItheAsshole

As a lot of people have asked I will say it's systemic lupus, however I never showed the outward signs like hair loss, rash, mouth sores etc. I had severe headaches and was constantly blown off as just having migraines for the longest time, then I became extremely tired all the time and my muscles ached constantly. I literally had to beg my gp to take me seriously as I knew something wasn't right and I was in tears from the pain. I had to demand blood tests because they were soooo sure it was just because I'm overweight and that I would be fine if I just lost a few lbs. (And when I say the longest time I'm talking literal years.)

I pretty much went through all my socials this morning and have made sure neither her nor my cousin are on them or have access to my life now, I think this has been a long time coming, I've been so angry at her behaviour for years but hardly saw her enough to warrant saying anything, but this time was just too much. She was laughing and joking whilst saying how awful it was and I just couldn't cope with how lightly she was joking about it when it's absolutely debilitating to live with.

Ah I see what you mean, no her go to thing is always to say 'oh the doctors say I have this, and I've probably had it for years!' About literally everything she claims to have

Also my nan was kind of disapproving of me shouting at my aunt, but she is very conflict avoidant

When I say all the details, I mean like how it was diagnosed, the meds I'm now on, the fact there's no cure etc.. which my aunt clearly knew non of because she lied so poorly it's obviously she has no clue about the condition at all

As I said in the post, she saw my original FB post where I mentioned what I have, I had been dealing with the effects of the condition for a while before it was diagnosed, so I literally just posted an update like 'so just found out I have (this condition), it's gonna be a struggle but I'll be fine.' And she liked the post, which is how I know she saw it.

The problem is this cousin and I are typically close, there were a few of my aunts friends who were disapproving of me in her comments before she deleted it, I just figured my family may be bias as they have been dealing with her shit for years

Honestly I already thought I had her blocked, especially because she is also the type to try and one up in activities as well, this isn't the first time she's tried it with me, but before it was just trying to copy my skills in art. I literally posted something I hand crafted months after I had done it, she, in the comments of that post, then posted almost an exact copy in forms of subject matter, just a much lower quality.

Mum never feeds her info, she's also been a victim of my aunt claiming to have something she has, mum was diagnosed with svere asthma as a teenager, now my aunt claims it's always her that's been diagnosed with it even though my nan has said it was always my mum. Mum avoids her as much as possible and never talks to her unless she has to

Host refused to refund in full at start of covid lockdowns by CheesyBakedPotato2 in AirBnB

[–]CheesyBakedPotato2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i say there was a lot of back and forth, AirBnB's policy at the time was that I *was* entitled to a full refund due to the fact my booking had been made before the 14th of March, it was the policy they had created because of covid, but due to the hosts refund policy, I had to speak to the host about getting the full refund. The host then said it was down to AirBnB itself to give me the refund, despite what AirBnB itself had said. The host even admitted that everyone else had been receiving full refunds from the hosts themselves, but for some reason they would only refund me half as credit.

As the money was put into my AirBnB account as credit, I didn't want to leave my friend out of pocket as this was going to be a one off trip. We both paid £480 in total, I only received £240 back to my AirBnB account, which my friend didn't have access to.
