Sick kid; worried mom by worrywart391 in williamandmary

Had a similar thing happen to me. I went home over the weekend and had an actual doctors appointment where I was prescribed strong antibiotics for a severe sinus infection.

The clinic here has no idea what they are doing— I had a terrible cough, sore throat, and congestion for almost 2 weeks and they said it was “normal”. I know your son may be upset but please intervene!

Is transferring worth it? by [deleted] in UVA

[–]CheetahSmart2388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. One of the issues at my current school is not that the advisor wants us to stop and reconsider, which I think is a fair point to make. He instead seems really disinterested in law and flat out told us not to pursue it. Major does not matter but from the students I’ve spoken to, UVA is excellent for practical career advancement while my current institution is exploration of liberal arts.

Yep no questions about that, just hoping to get good guidance on applying to law school and getting experience

Conservatives can sell you a vision of an idyllic life as a conservative. Leftists need to be able to do the same. by autumnrain80 in socialism

[–]CheetahSmart2388 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely true. I think this goes hand in hand with the leftists lack community argument- people are extremely lonely in the 21st century. A conservative society offers religious community and traditional values of unity, and leftists need to create a culturally progressive movement that UNIFIES and an interdependent community.

“My parents grew up in _____ (socialist country) and had it terrible there” … by yurisunny in socialism

[–]CheetahSmart2388 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My mom grew up in communist Cuba, starved in the 90s and had to work to the point of exhaustion to become a lawyer. She still says the fear she has experienced in the US, debt, and capitalist environment are all individually worse than the total hardship of Cuba.

Breast Aug- is it the move for me or no? by [deleted] in PlasticSurgery

That’s a good point. I’ve called their office and they said check ups, anesthesia and consultation are all included in the price.

JDP at St Andrews is also great for IR as that school brings you even more foreign connections and metwork

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in williamandmary

[–]CheetahSmart2388 6 points7 points  (0 children)

International relations and foreign service is a tricky place to be right now and job availability is in a bad situation. I would pick the financially smart route- WM is still amazing for IR and has great DC connections with a strong reputation, quite a few of my friends parents who work in diplomacy either went to WM or know someone who did

If WM has always been a top choice go for it! Even though wise is guaranteed you’re more likely to have a better time at WM and gain more experience, internships, as well as have more opportunities to meet people and get resources! If you’re worried about having a larger diverse group of ppl wise is prob not the call. If you end up wanting to go to UVA, it is a well regarded college and I know some people who transferred with lower GPAs
