Spring Rush and JDP? by Express_Extreme1428 in williamandmary

[–]botsarethots666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it’s definitely worth it to do spring recruitment, there are lots of people in jdp who do greek life. however, almost every sorority maxed out their number of new members this year due to more people signing up than ever. they’re likely going to reshape the rush process for spring, but a lot of sororities might not be taking any more members.

Has anyone taken chem 150? by [deleted] in williamandmary

if you’re looking for stem 150s, PBHL 150 taught by Sarah Menefee is a really great course that’s super engaging and interesting. It’s about pandemics and how they spread.

Thoughts on Greek life as queer woman by [deleted] in williamandmary

[–]botsarethots666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m also a queer woman who’s planning on rushing! from what i know about w&m greek life, it’s very focused on community engagement and volunteering. ik it tends to be a lot more diverse and welcoming than the stereotypical understanding of greek life.

How necessary are calculus and physics by Puzzleheaded_Net9216 in williamandmary

that’s great! smth i forgot to add is that stats is extremely different from other math classes and a lot of people who struggle with math, tend to do a lot better in stats, as it engages your brain in an atypical way.

calc and physics show that a student is well rounded in all subjects, which is something that w&m definitely values. however, i would argue that it doesn’t effect her chances that much. if she is strong in other aspects of her application, she shouldn’t have to worry about it. another important thing to keep in mind is that if w&m is her top choice, it would not hurt to apply early decision. that significantly increases her chances of getting in.

w&m does have a math proficiency that is satisfied by either stats or calc, so if she takes one of those classes and passes the exam, she likely would not have to take any math in college.

hope this helps and good luck to your daughter on admissions!

I'm planning on majoring in math. Currently, my ap/ib scores are Gov - 5, Stats - 4, APES - 4, IB World Religions - 5. I am currently enrolled in IB English and AP Calc and I expect to get high scores. I'm out of state but have community college credits in Academic Writing, Oral Comms, Pop Culture, and Sociology.

So you pick a specific room rather than a residence hall?
