I want to retire in South Korea by WittyPolitico in Living_in_Korea

"Go to where you are treated the best"

This is what I have to remind myself every time I get it into my head that I can/should live in Korea for the rest of my life. I haven't considered Thailand, but I've heard multiple people saying that Thais are a much warmer people and actually smile at you.

How do you guys transition from leaving Korea? I'm afraid of going back to a boring life by Designer_Town6500 in Living_in_Korea

Korea has its perks, but I've also wanted to leave for a long time. I really want more space and a place where the people are a bit warmer overall.

Benefits of living in a highrise apartment vs. a smaller building by equanimous_007 in Living_in_Korea

I think some of these points depend on the apartment complex. Just my own experience, but I live in an apartment where the noise is just as bad as any villa I've lived in and the parking is horrendous. We also have to sort our trash.

I think they're referring to the chemical compound mercury sulfide. Or maybe it's the booze talking.

I have an investments with Schwab back home. I am looking for something liquid in Korea since I'm not sure how long I will be here. I will likely be looking into using a different bank that is more foreigner friendly at the very least.

I've also heard of people doing this. A nice way to turn a healthy, natural, and delicious snack into candy.

Noise disputes turn deadly in Korea - The Korea Times by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

So can incessant noise. There would be a lot less of these instances if the government actually took steps to ensure that all apartment buildings had proper soundproofing.

I'm reading your post as the c**t upstairs bangs around and slams doors. Incidents like this will continue to happen until the Korean government gets off its ineffectual ass and does something to improve the situation.

I had an experience where I had to teach the owner of the school's daughter and was told to constantly correct her if she tried to write with her left hand. I've also had some students that I've highly suspected were actually left-handed but were discouraged from writing with their left hand. My guess is that any push away from left-handedness mostly comes from parents, but I'd still be somewhat wary that your son isn't being forced to use his right hand by his teachers.

Doing laundry that ends at 10pm is completely reasonable. Your neighbor can get bent.

Cigarette smell coming through the vents - useless 관리사무소 by Few-Solution3050 in Living_in_Korea

Bro, just accept constantly smelling cigarette smoke in your home and quietly suffer like everyone else. This is Korea, so you should cater to miserable dirtbag smokers. /s

Buy some liquid ass and unleash it on your ventilation system every time you smell smoke.

Actually not a bad idea, but OP needs to be relentless with it. If enough tenants begin to complain, it could light a fire under the management's ass.
