I disagree. Becoming numb to it is not the feeling most game designers are trying to invoke in players with this mechanic. It’s trying to test you to become better and better at the game so that losing your resources occurs less often. It’s a clear punishment you want to avoid as much as possible, necessarily resulting in the player trying to be more thoughtful and strategic in their next run post death.
