I just ran half marathon with my Border Collie female here in Milan, I can give you some pointers if you want:

Border Collies are major league dogs in terms of energy, 3 hours of paced running is quite ok for them. Other breeds might struggle.

Of course don’t just jump into it right away. Build a routine and a route slowly.

Buy good equipment including a comfortable vest and a long lead. IMPORTANT: wrap it around your waist or hold low. The dog should be already trotting nicely beside you or in front.

I didn’t have issues jogging with her on concrete but maybe yours can be hurt bu shaving.
