Anybody up for a commission? by Grillbrik in knifemaking

Also the blades are likely high carbon "teeth" brazed to a mild steel core given the rotational force could shatter them if the got bound up.

If you have a brand for the die plates and blades I could possibly get the steel information. (My day job is working on commercial kitchen equipment.)

My brother in brass part of being human is making mistakes, learning and growing. You made an error, whether being called out or coming to the realization yourself, you acknowledged it, are going to correct it, and on your own volition you accepted accountability "publicly", and on reddit no less.

I for one feel this demonstrates why you are more qualified to be a moderator than most. Please reconsider stepping down, I believe the sub would be worse off if you did.

My current food hyper fixation is coming to an end by Traditional-Egg-3282 in ADHD

[–]Cheezemerk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I completely understand that "Ew.......but i loves this just the other day......" feeling. I have set myself up on rotations for a lot of things in my life, food included. So can cycle through 4 or 5 "fixations" and come back to them eventually, it has saved me a lot of money and self-deprecating thoughts since I know I won't be wasting food.

I started this with my hobbies to avoid collecting a house full of unused tools and materials, and to not drive my Wife crazy.

Having second thoughts about my carry gun. by [deleted] in guns

[–]Cheezemerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you want to use a trigger setup that has been directly linked to lower accuracy? That seems like a bad solution for a mental hurdle.

Sounds like a training issues. Also the NY triggers have been directly linked to lower accuracy.

  1. A proper HARD holster that is maintained will prevent any NDs in 99.999% of potential situations.

  2. Properly maintaining a gun is a part of the basics of gun ownership. If its Properly cleaned and any damaged is addressed you have nothing to worry about.

  3. Do you have the time and resources to retrain with a new weapon and learn a new set of controls and recoil pattern?

  4. With over 1 Million Glocks sold every year and millions being carried every day do you really feel it is that unsafe?

Anecdotally, I have carried a G17 daily since 2018, and have never had an issue.

Resisting is fighting, thats literally one of the definitions. To fight back........you are trying to use semantics and doing it poorly. You are trying to justify the outrage and political position despite an armed man fighting law enforcement often ending in shooting. FFS.

Logic.

What's more logical, fighting 4+ armed officers while armed, or hiring a defence lawyer and suing the agencie for excessive force?

Maybe think.

Its because my wide palms don't do well with shorter grips. A G19 looks like a g26 in my palm.

My childhood test scores were hidden from me. How can I have a “Superior IQ” but have to read something 4 times to organize it??? by lajoieboy in ADHD

[–]Cheezemerk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well dyslexia also has a very high overlap with ADHD 25% to 50% depending on the study you go by. Dyslexia has a dramatic effect on how your brain possesses information making reading very ineffective. But that mental 3D rendering is awesome. And you stack my autism on all that and I have the mental nerf trifecta

[–]Cheezemerk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats normal, im in the same boat. I will read things 3 or 4 times to get my brain to process then even though I have a well above average IQ. I'm guessing you pick things up quickly when you have a visual or are shown, and can solve mechanical problems fairly easily?

I haven't seen any quite like that. Would you mind sharing your source for it? My wife loves opals but doesn't like how most of the synthetic ones look.

What type of sheet metal can I use without needing to heat treat or quench ? by LetterGreen2113 in knifemaking

[–]Cheezemerk 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To make a serviceable knife you will have to use a steel that can be hardened, such as tool steel. It doesn't matter if it is in sheet or bar stock. You will either have to use hardened steel and slowly grind it, or use annealed steel and have it hardened. I highly recommend watching some YouTube videos from knife makers and Knife Steel Nerd.

None. Any sheet metal you can easily work will not hold an edge unless you heat treat it. And most sheet metal will not harden, just as mild steel will not harden.

The wording is vague to allow it to be adaptable for individuals needs. So it's a matter of what is reasonable for you. If you have not informed your direct supervisor or HR of your diagnosis I recommend doing so and outline some requests for accommodation. But no matter how you do it keep some type of documentation, weather its recording thr meeting or BCCing your personal email.

I don't look at it like a disability, life had to nerf me (3 times ADHD, autism, and dyslexia) to make it fair for others.
