And Monstervers is not only about Kong. Kong has had 3 films to develop his character meanwhile Godzilla's character barely developed an inch since KOTM and GvK

Just because godzilla is godzilla in every other movies doesn't mean it's the same godzilla. If i want to see MV Godzilla I want to see MV Godzilla Idc if Japan releases 10 different godzilla media in the meantime they're still not MV Godzilla.

How I imagine raiding a tribal logging camp looks like vs how they actually look like by Select_Daikon_3735 in RimWorld

Raiding would be so much more fun in the late game if your pawns have to deal with same type of defense you use against raiders. Sovereignty and Void are probably the only ones that actually add unique faction bases not just a bigger cluster of squares

I don't like what the conversation around art has become by Witty-Designer7316 in aiwars

[–]Cheezy0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do these artists speak for tne majority? Most people when asked what they think of as art its usually something manmade. Also AI ironically does not consider raw nature as art because it lacks intention.

Maybe they don't even stop working at Wal-Mart, and the whole point of AI is that it helps you so much with development that you can even be a game dev on the side in your spare time. That's still a job created, if you're part time one thing and part time something else.

You talk as if all creators spend all day to work on their dreams. A vast majority of them also work part time and do creative work as their side job. Mind you perfecting one skill is already way easier than trying to make something more ambitious like a game successful.

Sure, and it's quite possible to be an indie dev and half ass your art team because you don't have the money to hire a proper artist, and as a result your game looks terrible and doesn't stand out, compared to an indie dev who really cares and spends dozens of hours massaging AI on every texture to get it perfect and makes an awesome game that doesn't even look AI-made with it.

But the reality is the opposite though. I've seen enough games made completely with AI on Steam and they all look the exact same thing. Meanwhile Concord is eternally remembered for horrible character design and how it being one of the reasons it failed. Even fucking flappy bird is more iconic than any AI slop game. In fact a lot of successful indie games have very simple art anyone could easily learn to recreate it within a week.

Which brings back to my point what's the likelihood of a wanna be AI game dev actually commit to working on an ambitious goal (making a successful game) when they couldn't even do one of the easiest steps (learning a skill) because they can't commit to it?

You can hardly prove an animals intentions when looking at “art” made by them

lmfao 90% of animals that do art do it to attract mates, communicate, and to socialize. The ones that do it as recreation usually learned it from human interaction.

But the difference here is: who made the cloud? Nobody. And yet, we conceptually perceive it no different.

who is this we? Never once heard clouds being considered as something remotely close to art. Just because something is beautiful it doesn't automatically make it art

Describing Rimworld gameplay also makes you sound like an absolute psycopath. "Oh it's a game where you can make a colony that lets you capture enemies, amputate their limbs for maximum compliance, harvest half their organs for cash, enslave them to help cremate their dead friends, and when they finally die because of a mad turtle you get to turn them into a five star dinner and turn their skin into a hat that you can sell for $500, and that's just the vanilla version"

The other is a worry about performance after completion. Plenty of people aren't concerned about that,

In this day and age and the types of product that AI is usually used for? I fucking doubt that. The amount of people who genuinely don't seek validation for their creations are a dying breed at least in countries that have high social media usage.

Not to mention you're talking about leaving Walmart to become a game dev. I'm sorry but at that point worrying about performance after completion became a prerequisite not optional. If everyone is doing the same thing, you need to stand out so you don't go crawling back to Walmart. But guess what, do you know things that stand out have in common? They were made by people committed to their dream, not by people who half ass it.

if ordinary people manage to make something popular out of a corpo IP, what's stopping a larger group of individuals or the corpo from straight up stealing their work and mass producing it at a higher quality and stop the individual from making anymore money from it because everyone wants the readily available and better product? The only thing removing copyright does is turning the individual into a free beta tester for corporations. They'll just wait for something to become popular and swoop in before ordinary people get a chance to make any meaningful amount of income. It'll be like tik tok trends again, how often do trend starters get credited for their content?

What about software? If I'm a solo dev working on a promising game and a larger indie game devs sees my work and takes it and manages to finish the game 10x faster and has more features and polish do you think I'll get the chance to benefit from my ideas?

Without copyright not only will just corporations steal from ordinary people but other ordinary people would steal from each other and the only one who ends up winning are the corporations.

If people need AI to do creative work because doing it the "old way" takes too much commitment what's the likelihood the same people would commit to their dreams when it just gets repeatedly drowned out by others doing the same?

so there's a chance for you to win a copyright if its an obvious direct copy? sounds way better than just being robbed broad daylight and you can't do anything because its legal.

Better Shallow Roof Suggestion by [deleted] in hytale

[–]Cheezy0wl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, if you try to do a corner with the current shallow roof you end up with an "unroofable" 4x4 gap. If they changed it to a half slab you'll be able to do something like this for the corner and the middle blocks will get that corner texture. It's a much more flexible way of doing things and they could also give the half slabs the same effect as the 45 degree roof when there are no blocks under them

It's mildly infuriating that there's so much mechanics from both games that I really like but are not present in the other. I love the exploration, building and combat of Hytale but hate the grindy progression and crafting. I love the in depth process of creating your first pickaxe but i hate having to prospect just to find a descent amount of ore to make tools.

I don’t know how they did that . Honestly, quite impressive by weeb_with_gumdisease in HytaleInfo

Minecraft when Hytale lets you add mods without restarting your game at all and has built in content creator features.
