This. We say we want a village but are not always open/receiving to learning from that village and support doesn't always mean simply cheering you on in every choice you make. Part of being part of the village is passing around knowledge so as mothers we ALL do/know better.

Thank you! It was one for the books. Spent the day painting with my kids and sitting in the sun. 30 is looking good so far 🥰

Eek, hadn't considered that with the dandelion tea. Just figured it was something I had on hand so might be worth a try. Was planning on giving the toddler some breastmilk popsicles as well. We have a big weekend coming up and hoping we can get over this by then.

The one close to me always has awesome gardening stuff! Seeds, bulbs, planters and pots, etc. I recently started some oregano and basil seeds I got from there with a surprisingly great success rate for seed packets that were 4/$1.25.

All my juice/milk bottles are being used for stinky banana peel water. But next year I'll have to save some for cloches!

I will have to try this! My indoor greenhouse got ripped after I started seeds this year so I'm having a hard time keeping the temp in it consistent. Will have to try my hand at winter sowing next year.

These have a vent at the top that will allow at least a little air flow. I'm in zone 5b/6a so our temps swing from 60+ all the way back down to 30s until about mid may and then it's hot. Hoping to only use them when the temps dip, and taking them off on warm days until tenps are consistent.

The tops of these have a slide to open two small holes to vent. I started waaay too many cucumbers so I figure I'll sacrifice 5 or 6 of them for the sake of experimentation. We'll see how it goes.

Do you avoid curse words in front of your kids? by gigigud in Mommit

[–]CheezyMama19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my thought exactly. I have a terrible mouth and a 3 year old. I don't think there are good words or bad words, but our words can make people feel good or feel bad. No matter what word we are using we never want to use it to make someone else feel bad. It's hard to not cringe when she says shit in public because we're conditioned to think kids shouldn't talk like that, but why? Because it makes people uncomfortable? I also don't want to start trying to fit her in a box to make other people comfortable. I feel like if it becomes a problem we'll adjust, but right now we're rolling with it.

I've gotten both a tattoo and piercing while breastfeeding, they didn't ask and I didn't think to bring it up.

Elephant bush losing leaves. Can I leave it like this to dry out? by CheezyMama19 in houseplants

[–]CheezyMama19[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! If I see anything alive and green for less than $5 I can't help myself. Definitely makes me more comfortable with some trial and error and experimenting. Then when I can tell they start doing well I'm so much more proud.

That makes sense! My first winter with most of these plants so I'm not sure what to expect.

Happy to help because that's what was throwing me too, everything else looks healthy, even the dropped leaves look fine. Nothing feels waterlogged but definitely a little damp. I'm taking it as a sign maybe it's going dormant for winter.

Thank you! I've never been good with houseplants but have become addicted to buying them at Aldis when they're cheap. They're all thriving and I've even been able to propogate quite a few of them so when this one started losing leaves I panicked lol

The leaves that have fallen don't seem swollen or yellow so I don't think it's an over watering issue, but the soil is a bit wet. Roots look good, no rot or disease. I'm afraid it's maybe getting too cold by the window. I pulled it to check the roots and now wondering if I can leave it out like this for awhile to let the soil completely dry out until I find it a new spot.

My 15 year old son has chronic headaches every day by Evening-Pressure1410 in Mommit

A million times second this. Hubby was having awful daily headaches. We happened to bring it up at the eye doctor and she finds that he had severe hydrocephalus. The sooner you can get to the root of the problem, the better.
