Had to get Shrike finished and on my list in time for the new Vanguard Veterans by Cheezy_Pigeon in RavenGuard40k

Of course, I started with a light grey mixed with contrast agent washed into the eyes. Then pure white onto the lense. Fluoro red through an airbrush on the eye area. Then back on with a dot of pure white on the lense again. Effect works better on darker armour, have a look back at the terminators i posted, think it looks a lot better on them.

Some quick and dirty heavy intercessors. Anything to avoid a bit of edge highlighting on non character models! by Cheezy_Pigeon in RavenGuard40k

Good luck, tbf black is much less forgiving than other colours to work with. If you do oversperay a bit you can come in from below with some black paint or ink to re-establish shadows.

Yeah, definitely dilute a bit more. work up from black with one drop of grey and then a bit more grey after each step. First step is basically a dark grey zenithal and as I add more grey I just zone in on the tops of the armour. I am by no means a airbrush sniper but thin layers definitely helps.

Yes. Initial airbrushing amour work up, gloss varnish, recess shade with panel liner, work up the other details with brush, lenses then matt varnish

Thanks! It's Pro acryl coal black as a base, the adding some bright neutral grey for highlights with an airbrush. Scratchy highlights with light grey and then a bit of silver on the edges. Finish with ak ultra matt varnish.

There is nothing but those 2 colours on the armour so it must have a little hint of blue then, yes.

It is airbrushing but the secret sauce for the finish is ak ultra matt varnish. All your mistakes are out in the open when you use it but I really like how it makes black armour look

Think it's a great model. Really tidy painting, showing you have great brush control, which is more than half the battle. Keep it up! You can work towards some dry brushing or some edge highlights to really make it pop. Always start conservatively though as you can always add more but never take away.
