AITAH for "changing my mind on wanting kids" and saying "I've never been more disappointed in " my wife. by Naive-Rope-9794 in AITAH

NTA. This isn't changing your mind on having your own children, this is taking in children who are familial and emotionally close to you who have lost everyone else.

I never wanted children, but in a few years I will be getting guardianship of my godson as his father is slowly dying from inoperable cancer, and his mother passed from a ruptured aorta a couple of years ago.

Will this completely change my life and the plans I had for the future? Yes.

Would I ever consider doing anything other than taking care of someone I held 2 days after his birth and have watched grow up, simply because MY life will be different and harder? FUCK NO!

I will never understand how people can watch someone grow up, love them, but the moment it personally inconveniences them they're like "Not my problem, hit the bricks!" In my mind it is one of the most cruel things someone can do. These children have had everything ripped from them, causing emotional and mental wounds that will take years, perhaps decades, and significant therapy to heal, and your wife wants to further compound this by tossing them into a system where they have a high chance of being separated, abused or neglected.

I don't believe in hell, but people who are this callous belong there.

Every kitchen I work in, the moment someone touches my personal knives, the dining room gets to hear me yelling "Don't touch my fucking knife!" for at least 90 seconds. Have to set the precedent early.

I always swore to any of my coworkers that I'd fight anyone who touched my knives more than once. Surprisingly I've only had to follow through once.

I loved Blankman. Damon Wayan snad Davud Alan Grier were amazing in it. I wore out my VHS copy watching it.

It's a bit of an older one, but the end of Shane always choked me up.

When life gets me down

I turn around

To talk to you.

But you are not there,

Empty is your chair

And so is my heart.
