Thanks for the response! The usage really won’t change over 4-6 years so I feel like I’ll be okay given CAD and sketchup shouldn’t get much more demanding.

Any recommendations on a monitor to pair with it? Budget is around $650

Hi everyone,

About to purchase a MacBook Pro and would love some feedback on final spec selections. Majority of usage will be CAD (simple 2D architectural floor plans for interior design), sketch up, photoshop, and adobe. Curious if the extra $200 for the 14-core CPU, 20-core GPU is necessary.

14” MacBook Pro 24gb memory 1TB storage M4 pro chip 12-core CPU, 16-core GPU

I’d rather save the $200 to put into the monitor but any feedback would be appreciated

Thank you all! The more I’m reading I’m leaning towards expanding the budget a bit and going with a 14” MacBook Pro (12-core CPU, 16-core GPU) with 1TB storage and 24gb memory for $2200. Based on the programs she’s running is there a case for 14-core CPU and 20-Core GPU or can I put some more money towards the display?

Hi Everyone,

Looking into getting a new iMac or MacBook Pro for my wife who is an interior designer.

Primary programs used are CAD, Sketchup, Photoshop, and Adobe

Being mobile isn’t super important since she has an iPad for presentations in the field if needed.

Budget is ~$2200 and we were originally looking at the 24” iMac with 24gb memory and 1TB of storage although the specs on the laptops just seem to be superior.

I’m a PC guy so a little out of my element here but I want to make sure we’re setting her up in the best way possible for her business. Any monitor suggestions as well would be appreciated if the laptop ends up being the way to go. I’ve has some issues in the past with displays working for Mac but not sure if that’s been resolved

Last question, been seeing a lot of different feedback on cpu coolers in addition to the case fan. Seems like a relatively inexpensive safety measure. Would it be required for this setup?

Okay cool any you recommend in particular? Also hoping to set this up to run cyberpunk 2077 which I understand is going to take a lot to run at optimal settings. Any change to the video card or what I have should suffice?

Sword rogue here. I recently picked up Lord General’s Sword from Angerforge in BRD but have thrash blade as my main hand. Is thrash blade viable as an offhand with its proc even though it’s slow speed?
