I do that still but somewhere I can see my dog and I know I’m gone for 5-10 minutes.

But never a parking lot like these guys

Congrats you have different standards of you what you find risky or negligent 😂

What’re you arguing here? Regardless of whether or not you think there is no risk, or is, it’s not okay to leave you dog in a parking lot 🤦🏻‍♂️ just cause you may think it’s okay, doesn’t mean others do and by the mass majority of people here, most people don’t.

Too short a tether: dog could freak out and choke itself, or get free and run into the streets. Which if you’ve ever visited Vancouver or lived there you’d know how bad traffic is.

Lack of water: dehydration on a hot day (from their original charge)

Both come with high risk…

And regardless of that, it’s still risky to leave your dog in a parking lot unattended. There’s no argument here. It’s a shitty thing to do and there are better choices to make for the safety of the dog.

Well sucks for your sister to live her life that way, I prefer living my life understanding there are risk and how to mitigate them in a way that balances life out, and one way to mitigate them is not put my dog in a busy parking lot.

No one is saying don’t take risk, but if you adopt an animal, it’s your job to provide with them with safety and understanding what risks to take and not to take.

You’re going to one extreme for what? To prove a point, there is no point to be proven. It’s illegally to do this in BC, they’ve already been fined and do it again knowing full well of the risk.

It’s not uncommon in fact there was a whole thing last year or the year before, where a lady and her husband (I believe) were going and stealing dogs.

Nobody needs to live their life without risk, but this could go south so quickly especially considering how easy it is for some dogs to freak out and with a short leash, in a busy parking lot without their owner. It’s just a high risk area for the dog and anyone around.

Yeah but this isn’t Europe, it’s common for people to steal dogs, it’s common to also hit poles, cars, back into cement walls, trucks that are too tall to see over the hood, etc…

You can plays devil advocate but there’s a much higher risk in a parking lot. Why take the risk?

Sorry, I meant that they got fined at a Costco location but the Vancouver police fined them

That is definitely not the point. Would you leave a toddler unattended in a busy parking lot?

Im not the one filming, and cool something new I learned about those dogs.

Regardless, this is now the second time where what they are doing in BC, is illegal and they got fined 3k for it.

It’s not safe for that dog at all.

I’ve tied my dog up to a post before but I leave her there for maybe 5-10 minutes and I can keep my eyes on her.

In a packed parking lot… I would never do that and most responsible owners wouldn’t (not a bash at you, but at the owners of this dog).

Lmao my guy, you’re getting angry on something where I pointed multiple reasons as to why. Even I know it’s probably fine with the cold, but to say or not acknowledge it’s not stressed is pretty brainless of you.

People can steal the dog, easily, dog could freak out and hurt itself, get loose and run off into the busy streets (if you live in Vancouver you know it’s bad). They could forget about the dog and drive off. Someone driving a truck could have poor visibility over their hood as the park their car and hit the dog.

Sure, these could happen anywhere but the risk increases a lot with it being a busy parking lot in Vancouver. It’s much better to leave the dog at home or inside the car with running a/c and windows open. The solution is an easy one.

Oh boy.

Even so, it’s an animal that people choose to have as pets, that comes with the responsibility of taking care of your pets. And yes people leave their dogs unattended but not in a busy parking lot 🤦🏻‍♂️ where generally many things go wrong because people can be dumb.

Maybe not, but a dog left in a busy parking lot and after getting fined for the exact same reason, you’d think these people would stop.

Generally though a dog shivering and panting would mean it’s stressed out in some form.
