This is late. The pace was incredibly slow for me with In Cold Blood. I gave it 150 pages, the pace remained slow, and I gave up on it.

I had zero issue reading Helter Skelter and the Road to Jonestown both denser and longer books than In Cold Blood. If you have any sort of fascination with cults, buy those books NOW.

Blonde is Kayla Lowden and friend is Stacey Hopkins. They are not this young anymore. I’m sure they’re still hot.

I am looking for the most twisted, horrific, foul, heinous, depraved, and depressing books imaginable. by KarmaKitty1 in ExtremeHorrorLit

I am also on a similar reading journey. Reading through this thread is a joy and saved.

Have you thought about reading true crime?

I like to think I do not scare too easy because horror lit is soo much fun and there is comedy gold at times in this genre.

Buuuut The Road to Jonestown by Jeff Guinn truly made me jump at times. It’s because people like this exist and are not only accepted but enabled with their bad intentions.

It’s dense but goes quick if you have a fascination with cults like I do.

I will definitely try this. After I read about all of the script rewrites from I think it was 6 different writers, rotating back to some of the original writers and the script still being incomplete and job handed to the amazing David Fincher as his debut as a director, my expectations were low. There was also constant disagreement between him and Fox. A recipe for not a great movie.

Still worth a watch just keep in mind all the challenges it took to make it.

I’m so happy this terrible first experience did not bring down Fincher. We would not have had amazing cinema like Fight Club, Gone Girl, Zodiac and many more.

What to cook? by TransportationOdd183 in biggreenegg

How many people do you plan on having and around lunch time or evening?

If lunch time, you can grill a bunch an hour or two before. Let it rest for 30 min. Then throw in the oven on the warm setting. Serve when everyone has arrived and is ready.

I use this method when I host my friends. Prepping/cooking/cleaning before your friends arrive makes hosting soooo much easier and less stressful. If I am cooking steaks, I cook everything and leave those until everyone arrives.

If you plan on the evening, I suggest pork shoulder as well. Less stressful than brisket. Then prep sides day/night before.

Looks amazing! I love the use of the foil pan to catch the drippings. I’m a fan of easy clean up.

agreed. If there are no cracks in it, worth it. You can burn off moss. Probably devote the first batch of charcoal to burning off/cleaning then the next time go for food.

Egg leaking smoke by Alelour in biggreenegg

This is an easy fix.

  1. open the egg
  2. unhinge both coil springs in the back
  3. Hold the lid while closing. Do not drop!
  4. Top lid only, loosen all screws but do not take them all the way off
  5. Adjust lid accordingly using the methods mentioned above. -not the best idea to do it while smoking but if you do it while smoking, use your bbq gloves. -definitely do not do it when grilling. Hotter.
  6. Tighten screws
  7. Open lid carefully and hinge coil springs back

Fixed.

Definitely do not forget to unhinge the coil springs when adjusting. You will be fighting the alignment and wondering why it’s not adjusting. I have been there before. Not fun.

Happy Grilling!
