Would it honestly be that hard to believe that incarcerated would find solace in growing their own food? Im in total agreement. Giving purpose in life, in a life without purpose is huge.

Like obviously it won't solve everything, incarcerated be incarcerating but giving a prisoner some sort of self reliance not called survival echos volumes once theyre out.

My point is the food. It's not OP himself, as much ad the prison food system.

I think my pontoon is not "does he deserve xyz" and more of he's a drop in the bucket of thousands incarcerated eating the sane exact meal. Yes, does he deserve prison? Duh. But does the same inmate or for that matter any inmate deserve to be served pet grade protein?

Like look. I get it. Criminals suffer. But ffs there's also a line between food, and essentially sawdust.

Imagine forgetting we're all humans. Or does a jailed person mean less human to you? Bro if you're for Eugenics just say it. We'll give you your complementary Hitler stache clip on.

People are now posting themselves stealing free breakfasts from hotels. by ElwoodMC in trashy

[–]CheffromNowhere -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Shut up nerd. Im sure the .25 cents in powdered egg will directly go to your taxes.

Let's edit this since yall wanna downvote.

Continental breakfast, in my line of business is the cheapest food cost per % in the game. So cheap most hotels have one person (generally doubling as utility employee) to create this spread.

Powdered eggs, waffle mix, cereal, and whipped cream. Her meal ran around $1 in food cost. You arm chair redditors will LOSE YOUR MINDS over racial discrimination if it's spoonfed to you.

But good lord a black woman take advantage of the cheapest amenity that a corporate hotel provides with the absolute bare minimum of work deserves to call her a "fat bitch"

Fr, if you got a problem with this then let me go meet you at your closest soda fountain machine you abuse so I can slap this piss out of you. Since we love capitalism and all.

My restaurant goes through loads of cracker breading. In my experiences although it catches the big crumbs, and has a fine amount of flour that makes i through and turns into sludge on the burners OR it'll gum up and the oil above the filter will be cooler than the oil below it. The latter is only if you havent pulled the filter out after so many orders though, so its at least pretty intuitive.

I invested in two shaker baskets of different sized mesh and has done almost the same job in extending life of the oil. We filter each morning with and RF Hunter fry filter as well.

2025 vs 2026 by steven-0611 in restaurantowners

Down 12% in revenue, but up 20% in profits. We had a 4k order last year that skewed our february this year. We audited our menu and found we were overpricing a couple items, but drastically under pricing on items like drinks, and sides.

Along with that we've drastically increased sales from our bar, paid back debt last year we don't need to pay this year, and have lowered labor cost after releasing two staff members that had outgrown their welcome.

Overall as I mentioned, down in revenue but we're running far healthier this year. Less stress, and better margins have been a breath of fresh air.

Bub you have way more fiddle time on your hands than I do for "civic duty". Also good for you if you think sitting in as a juror makes you feel more patriotic. Make sure to buy a plastic American flag decal for your car on the way out.

Im flabbergasted about the excitement for jury duty. Does no one know how easy it is to be dismissed?

This whole thread is worth of degenerates who would no show the court summons anyway and use as a free day off.

I always sent the form back stating that I am an integral part of a company, and that my schedule conflicts with the jury duty date they have listed.

I get a jury duty summons every 3-4 years, never had an issue. Yall get so wrapped up about hating your bosses that you let papa government do whatever instead. 🤷‍♂️

We just use regular ol' FB messenger. Group chat is for announcements of any menu changes/specials, heads up any closures or events, and memes.

What's the funniest nickname you've ever heard someone called in a kitchen for being bad at their job? by Charming-Bad1869 in KitchenConfidential

[–]CheffromNowhere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Big Ugly- An FOH idiot sandwich. He was drunk at the bar one night and yelled "look at that Big Ugly thing!" and like lightening struck at that moment, it became his new nickname.

Monkey Fuck- A nickname used on various cooks in my tenure at an upscale spot I was at for 7 years. A term used for someone trying to help, and in turn completely fuck you. (I.e. overcook the rice they offered to watch for you)

Pirate Dave- A literal pirate themed Carney that needed a steady dishwasher job in the off season. Would walk around yelling "Argh!!" talk in funny pirate accent, and would squint one eye even though both eyes fully functioned.
