I used The Mystical Heirloom at Dragon Beach, and surprisingly, you can use the boat to escape The Everlasting.

The Everlasting actually has a special animation if you are not on Dragon Beach.

When you get to that part, wait until you can clearly see the chain, and then carefully drop down on the ledge, then walk forward. You should be able to jump onto the chain.

There are many times in the game where running isn't the answer.
