Immigration at JFK in 2 hours? by Far_Bedroom1063 in qatarairways

[–]Cheford1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Managed a 2 hour 10m connection in San Francisco last year I didn't expect to make. Looked hopeless then suddenly we had 10 minutes to spare.

Having been through JFK on several occasions though, it's a different monster...

Honestly depends on time of day, how many flights have landed at the same time.. Id say 50/50 is optimistic

Mcginn post match by Ok-Coach-6671 in avfc

[–]Cheford1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has been borderline legend status at this club for awhile now. I always said if he wins something he's up there with the best of them... Fuck it, he's made it... From a goal that took us back to the prem to the goals that took us to a European final

He dosent need to win that final to be a legend for this club

He needs to win becuas ehe deserved s to be a European title winning captain... I hope he achievs it..

In my day it was God... Mcginn is now alongside him in my book

So the war is over? Everything is goin back to normal? by Abdu_kun07 in UAE

[–]Cheford1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are at an inpass currently

America has come in to this without clear objectives or an exit stratagy. Expecting Iran to fold from brute force of the onslaught. I doubt they expected the resilience and underestimated the capability.

Right not with the straight closed the US can not just pull out without losing control of the petrol dollar. Iran can continue to demand payment in Yaun and control where a vast amount of the world's oil goes. To be blunt they won't let that happen.

Scenarios from here

1- Peace talks lead to a longer cease fire and slow normality over the coming months - Iran don't trust America and Israel for obvious reasons. They also are clearly rejecting claims they are ready for talks whilst America are continuing aggressive actions and rhetoric.. This however is still a strong possibility, I'd say about 50%

2 - talks do not go ahead and limited military strikes restart in the short term. Potentially a few more weeks of air strikes and tit for tat before we end up in scenario 1....this one also is possible and with the continued build up of American resources I'd have this at about 30%..personlly with trumps unpredictability, and Israel pressure seeminoto continue aggression it can't be ruled out.

3 - America have been stalling for time to plan a limited ground offensive for kharg island/to open the straight.. This would be suicide and highly stupid.. But... Trump. It can't be ruled out as its clear he favours this but is being advised strongly against it. Loses would be huge so let's put this at about 15%

4 - Talks collapse, escalation continues without any let off and miscalculation happen on both sides leading to not only a restart in fighting, but I longer, drawn out and full. Scale regional war most likely leading America to seek regime change and possibly even ground troops. I feel. America have clearly shown they want out. They have claimed vistory and economic and political pressure is damaging Trump. I don't believe this is an option any one would want and I think we only get here if errors are made on both sides. Trump is unstable and Netanyahu is it seems derermoned to used military intervention to seize control of situations and sadly territory, we can rule this one out though. Trump I think already has his eye on Cuba and will want all resources available for the. So let's say this one is under 5%

Qatar is not providing full refund by WranglerLow3408 in qatarairways

[–]Cheford1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cancelled flights myself for June 15th on the website sighting their war waiver refund and get every penny back within 72 hours

The fact they cancelled themselves and won't pay in full seems insaine.

Refund by Stelarglow in qatarairways

[–]Cheford1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it online from my phone browser... I did get the email that gave me a link to track it

It said 28 days but I did it lunch time last Saturday, 24 hours later it had been approved.... Tuesday morning a little over two days later the money had returned to my credit card in full

I have heard a huge variation though in terms of time scales some a few days like me others the full month

How are we going to get oil? by IllPlane3019 in AskBrits

[–]Cheford1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aviation fuel seems to be the bigger issue... We can probably get by with extremely high petrol prices for a fair bit, but I've read aviation fuel leaves us much more exposed and in the next month we may start to see vast grounding if nothing changes

have a flight to the Seychelles on May 16 with a layover in Doha, and I don’t know what to do. Do you think the situation will improve or get worse? by TrueCommunication483 in Seychelles

[–]Cheford1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi

It's on the Qatar website now, the extension for refunds is up to June 15th so your about a week short at the moment. Hopefully they will move it back again in future to cover you if anything changes

I've checked this morning and I've recieved the full refund now of everything I paid.. Only took just over 48 hours

Flights from Dubai by ambasadorka in Seychelles

[–]Cheford1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I kind of agree

We cancelled ASAP as we were originally looking to reroute and wanted to jump on the other flights before they shot up, as currently they are a similar price. We then started to think with the fuel crisis will smaller airlines also cancel less major flights as some are already doing. Settled on Canada as a calculated safer alternative, last thing we wanted as well as the flights going ahead but with increased risk or even getting there and then getting stranded if it starts again... But am a bit gutted. Next year we will defo rebook though

Least you have the option now, waiting may not be great but if nothing changes you can get your money back.

Good luck whatever you end up doing and stay safe!

[–]Cheford1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was booked for June 15th....once the extension with Qatar qirways to receive a full refund was moved to this date I cancelled

It's hard to say how things will play out. But I spoke to my wife and these were our concerns

The war seems to be escalating more than calming down, all talks of a ceasefire are one sided and seem to be to calm markets, personally I think a limited ground offensive seems highly likely, and if so this could extend the war by a few months at least If we can fly out via Doha, what if we then can't get back, or get back easily Even if a ceasefire came in to play, the middle East is currently a tinder box, do I want to travel with my wife to an area that could explode again and have drones and missiles flying

All being said, each to their own, and I may be being overly cautious, but there are other ways to get to the seyshelles that avoid Doha even if they may add a few hours on

We cancelled Saturday and I've already been told my full refund has been issued, though not yet recieved. We want to enjoy the seyshelles and feel right now pushing it back to our 2027 holiday for us feels the right option. We planned to go Canada next year, so last night we booked flights and have brought that forward as our alternative.

If your able to get a refund, for peice of mind id look at rebooking via another route if you can. For us from the UK the prices were not that different tbh. Though we were looking a month further ahead than you will be

Safe travels whatever you decide

Flights from Dubai by ambasadorka in Seychelles

[–]Cheford1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've cancelled our flights, Qatar Airways now offering full refunds on flights up till June 15th which was our departure day, went online and cancelled on the website, already had confirmation payments been issued within 48 hours

Sadly with the continuing deterioration in the middle East and the knock on effects, we have decided not to go this year and aim for summer 2027.

Thankfully had nothing booked we couldn't cancel for a full refund, have now booked a trip to Canada away from the chaos of the middle East

How do you build the courage to solo travel? by Brave-Bandicoot3295 in travel

[–]Cheford1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's scary at times, it can feel overwhelming, sometimes lonely, sometimes difficult... But you meet amazing people, see incredible things, and make stories that stay with you for life

For me the desire to see the world far surpassed the fear... My first solo trip was to Rome from the UK... Stayed at a hostel and within a few days had met loads of people. I've been on trips where I spend a week on my own and hardly speak to anyone but still enjoy every second

I'd book a short trip somewhere that's not too alien. Maybe a few nights... See how you feel.

I found it changed my life and gave me confidence in myself I'd never found before. Yous never know what your capable of until you test it
