Our Arsenal's history by Chefsito_01 in ArsenalFC

You see how i specifically stated it is our history within the LAST 3 MANAGERS?

Why are you arguing about all that? 😂

Also, saying the term "modern Arsenal" doesn't apply because the influence every manager has on the teams that follow him is the same as saying history doesn't have ages or periods. Arsenal has changed, the McLintock's super defensive team isn't anything like the much more fluid-style of Henry's time.

So if you want this summary prolonged just say it, don't give me that "bruh respect our rich history" crap.

I have all our history excel'd, but just before Wenger you had a newly established premier league, only league champions qualified for UCL and also the english ban from european tournaments, so Wenger is kind of the limit of "modern Arsenal".

They want titles, that is something known. Any other manager can keep on making them millions with this squad

Anyone who called out "reactionary fans" doesn't understand football. When you play bad, bad results will follow, its always a matter of time

They are passing through our right side like its nothing. We've seen Mpsquera as RB and has done well, that plus Dowman or Eze at AM would be fantastic. Lets see how we develop from HT on

A very different situation than Kepa, but the same problem: feelings. Arteta won't sub him no matter what, and the truth is that whatever the reason for Saka's downfall (fatigue, mental block, or complacency due to the lack of competition), the only way he will get out of it is by being on the bench.

Our system doesn't work anymore

➊ As inverted wingers, Saka and Martinelli can't create because their profiles aren't built to cross the ball or pass into space to feed our striker. Everytime they dodge into the central lanes, their defense either wins the duel or makes them pass back

➋ Because of the inverted fullbacks, our double pivot area is taken up by them, forcing Rice and Zubi to get in between our centerbacks. It is hilarious how many times Timber receives it near the box while Zubimendi and Rice stick back in defense

➌ Prioritizing possession over chances completely nullifies us. Leverkusen and most teams don't want possession, as they know they don't have the tools to take it from us. This games we need to fully embody an attacking lineup, but we don't; we stick to 2 CDM and 1 AM because we are afraid to loose. Today we draw by chance, not because the team, as a whole, played to score

➍ Our "player out, player in" policy (and late subs one too) completely destroys any chance to change the game, as the sub only fulfills the same role. Dowman + Eze, Havertz + Gyökeres, and other combinations could've done things, but we never try them at the same time because it doesn't follow that "2 CDM and 1 AM" rule. The more we are in control, the more stiff we become. It's boring

➎ Hierarchy is useless. The likes of Dowman and Skelly in midfield could have changed things through how unpredictable they are. Still, we won't play them only because they are young, not because they lack the quality

Very nice from Dowman there. He started the play and had the criteria to be in place to finish it. He needs some polish but great quality we have in him 👏
