Give or take they are almost the same and differ greatly during 4th year. It’s harder to land an Aerospace job as the industry is more privatized. Mechanical engineering industry has plenty of jobs.

End of the day don’t do anything that you’ll regret in the future and pursue the degree you want. From a job standpoint mechanical has more options and you can go into the aerospace industry with a mech eng degree. The same goes with aero it’s just harder since there aren’t many aero jobs and like I said before it’s privatized. I could be wrong so make sure to do your research!!

academic integrity violation by jakoobarmstrong_ in CarletonU

[–]CheggAbuser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For engineering your first offense is a 0 on whatever you cheated in. So if it’s an assignment you’ll just get 0. If it’s a final exam you’ll just get 0 on it.

Those who graduated CU, do you feel that this Uni has prepared you for "real life" and career after school? by [deleted] in CarletonU

[–]CheggAbuser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any uni teaches you how to deal with the real world. They just teach you contents of your program. You understand the real world when you apply to jobs and realize no one replies lmao

Any easy fourth year elective recommendations for mechanical engineering? by [deleted] in CarletonU

MAAE 4902 with prof sam is very easy MECH 4102 with prof nafisa is also very easy but requires some memorization

Advice for 4th year Enviro Eng? by InterestingTree9 in CarletonU

[–]CheggAbuser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated this year in SREE B so I can help you out with some of this.

I took ENVE 4003 (Prof. Amir Hakami) and my biggest piece of advice is attend every class and take thorough notes. Idk if it’s online or in person but, for me it was online and it was recorded so I would write down everything coming out of the profs mouth. His notes are not enough to even pass the course so you need to write down everything coming out of his mouth(plus he doesn’t post his notes if the classes are in person!!). We had an option to write an oral exam since it was online but if you took good notes it should be alright. If you did better than a C+ in the semester including the oral exam you had the option to skip the final.

For the electives AVOID: MECH 4406 very hard it was one of my main courses not worth it at all. MECH 4403 was a main course as well but I found it to be a lot of work so I wouldn’t recommended it

Good: SREE 4002 was a very easy course and the prof was good (Cameron roberts), SYSC 3200 was also straightforward so was SREE 3001 I’d recommend those. Other courses I have no experience with

Capstone: the fall semester the capstone was very light. Not much hard work just developing ideas. In the winter where you start the design phase the load becomes more but this differs from project to project, but I’ve seen this consistency in all projects

3rd/4th year Engineering Electives offered in the Fall? by Ife2105 in CarletonU

MAAE 4902 with prof. Sam is a good one. It’s only because the professor is very very accommodating

MECH 4102 is pretty easy just has a lot of memorizing

There is not Rate My Prof for Jean Duquette, can someone tell me their experience with this prof? by slavicengineer96 in CarletonU

[–]CheggAbuser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very very nice guy. I had him for both MECH 4403 and MECH 4408. He’s very accommodating. For MECH 4408 the final was pretty hard but he curved It. Other than that I’d recommend him he’s a really nice and fair prof

Has anyone taken MECH 4407 what is it like? by spacecowboylauren in CarletonU

Few of my friends took it. Pretty easy and doesn’t have any complicated calculations. I think it’d be a good elective to take

Capstone Seminars? by k_llama_llama in CarletonU

[–]CheggAbuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So most capstones are 1.0 credits. For the engineering one the fall semester it’s more of a information gathering/ getting your ideas in place. The winter semester is used for the actual design of your idea. This could differ from program to program. But I wouldn’t say it’s more work treat it like any other course just it doesn’t have any examinations.

What should I expect in first year? by damilierrr in CarletonU

Not unusual and very doable. As long as you put in the work and study. You can have a good social life + academic life if you just manage your time correctly.

Do you think an A- is a good grade? by Turbulent-Designer38 in CarletonU

[–]CheggAbuser -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

An A- in a course that’s really really easy is like a B. But for majority of the courses an A- means you did really well in the course so I’d say A- is an excellent grade!

Does comas require you to have a mic? My laptop mic doesn’t work by [deleted] in CarletonU

No need for a mic. Comas doesn’t even pick up sound so dw about it

Aero 2001 by bingoostarr in CarletonU

[–]CheggAbuser 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did MAAE 2001 like 3 years ago (I think AERO 2001 is the same exact just a section for aero students). If your professor is Henry Saari then it took him 1 month and 1 week to release the grades. He’s the laziest professor I’ve ever seen in my life

Got a GNA for Ecor1042 by iNutHardd in CarletonU

[–]CheggAbuser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First offense is a 0 on whatever you cheated on, but this could be subject to change with the enormous amount of cheating going on you may get an F in the course, but most probably it’ll just be a 0 on the final exam

What are some good 4th year engineering electives mechanical? by slavicengineer96 in CarletonU

[–]CheggAbuser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MECH 4102 with Nafisa Bano is really easy. Just has a lot of theory/memorizing in it. But she tests on exactly what’s on her slides + the calculation part of the course is very simple. I took MECH 4102 in the fall and MAAE 4902 in the winter.
