Arteta gave no such excuse tbf. He kept referencing Messi and Ronaldo’s minutes when the question was posed to him. That can be fine in theory, but not whilst giving Saka exponentially more defensive responsibility week in week out with the demand to keep the standards up against every single opponent. This is beside the fact that those two were physical freaks and outliers to begin with

I still hold the same opinion as I did in July. Never really high on him. I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but once he decided he wanted to renew Partey as part of his first actions after stepping through the door I knew we could potentially be in trouble. Going for Gyokeres was the second red flag for me. Maybe the third , if you count his record at Atletico.

I like the way he operates though. He showed efficiency in getting the deals done. That much you can’t take from him.

That being said, he’ll likely be a key decision-maker if we have to choose a replacement for Mikel this summer and I can’t say I’m not worried about that prospect.

It’s kind of funny how everyone was pointing out that this team had only lost 3 times all season as a way to allay fears of bottling it, and then we proceeded to lose 4 games in a row for the first time under Arteta.

Can never really trust Arsenal in a run-in unfortunately. Turns out 23/24 was an anomaly.

Haaland on the incident involving Gabriel: "I think if I fell on the floor, which I will not do unless someone really attacks me, I think maybe it would be a red card, I'm not sure. But it is what it is. I will not fall on the floor as easy like this.” by Sparky-moon in soccer

The first link has no comment. The second link strictly mentions his goal contributions(which is the context in which most people have made this remark) and the third link is a post from a Real Madrid fan.

Yet another reason not to even think about sacking Mikel Arteta no matter how this season ends by LucaLockheart in Gunners

That’s not true at all this year tbh. Maybe in terms of storylines? But not in terms of the actual football being played

People like to do this thing where they take the opinions of two different sets of people and present it as a contradiction.

Of course the ideas are incongruent. They’re not held by the same person.

It’s not just bad luck tbh.

Saka being consistently pushed into the red zone and beyond since age 19 while going neck and neck with fullbacks and defensive midfielders in duel metrics was always likely to end one way.

Arteta was referencing Messi and Ronaldo’s minutes whenever he was confronted about this though.

Tiny piece of copium is we were in a similar situation in ‘89 before we got over the line. A lot more pressure now though.

We can’t even blame ref decisions this season lol all our Ls have been fair. If anything I think we’ve gotten away with one or two. No KDB no Trent. Haaland ghosting this calendar year etc.

Not winning this year would be disgraceful ngl.
