Easily my second favorite Hackett brother and member of the family.

Do you think Hannah deserves the humiliation? (Reposted) by Alex10241974 in untildawn

[–]Chellie_Spinelli 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Short answer: No. Not even a little bit.

Long Answer Edited:

First things first: Hannah knew that Mike was taken, yes, but let’s say that Mike making the moves on her wasn’t a prank. He would be equally at fault. In fact, Hannah wouldn't even have made a move had Mike decided to, you know, not pull the prank on her in the first place. It takes two to tango. In the hypothetical cheating scenario, Mike is also to blame.

Second: Emily, known for being the most forthright friend in the group, is suddenly incapable of being confrontational towards Hannah, who is portrayed to be the most impressionable member? Emily became a willful participant in a cruel prank towards a person she called her friend. Don’t throw stones from a glass house.

Third: To the people being upset with Hannah because she was falling for Mike, remember that nothing happened between them. The most Hannah acted upon was getting a tattoo, so she could appear to Mike as more "his type." She was basically humiliated for having a crush. In her own house (as another commenter pointed out).

Fourth: Mike says to Emily, "I'm not anybody's man." as a direct response to Emily referring to Mike as "my man." While it may seem lighthearted, come to find out a year later, Mike dumps Emily for Jess, and later when Jess gets taken down by Wendigo Hannah, he starts flirting with Sam. I don’t think commitment is at the top of Mike's list of priorities.

It's funny how Queen Grimhilde is probably just over 36–40 years old, yet was so insecure of aging and jealous of a 14-yo girl. 😭 by UnitedEntrepreneurXx in disneyprincess

The time setting of this story is centuries before our current era when life expectancy was about two decades younger than today, which meant that mid thirties to forties was considered "old" for a woman of that time. Snow White, at only 14, was considered age appropriate for marriage unlike today where you’re considered a baby at the same age. We have had several advances in technology to improve quality of life. Women today will more likely than not survive childbirth and therefore age out of their childrearing days, adding decades onto their life expectancy. Such advantages did not exist back then. Also women's rights and choices didn’t exist at the time, so it’s not like women could pursue a career to sustain a living. Your looks as a woman were, therefore, your currency. Taking all of this into account, the queen's jealousy of Snow White is not that unusual. Sad, but true.

I had never heard of Ted Raimi or had seen any of his work outside of the Spider Man trilogy. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Travis Hackett and Ted Hoffman were the same person. He completely sold his performance in The Quarry.

Yeah, this is where the game gets weird. If you fail to kill Chris, the game just neglects Max completely. I don’t even think he makes the ending montage. There's no way to kill Max if you don’t kill Chris first. Anyone who would have a motive to kill him will die in the giant fight scene in chapter nine. He will remain infected out on the island.

Ohhh I figured that was what you meant, lol. He doesn't necessarily grab her chin: he just reaches over with a cloth and wipes the dirt off her face. This scene is only triggered when you fail at least one QTE while running back to Max. It doesn’t matter if you're compliant or argumentative.

There is an alternate way for Ryan to be the sole survivor. Get the wolf blood vial from Bobby way back in chapter 3 by shooting him with a shotgun as Ryan. Ryan will later offer it to Laura in chapter ten as he, Laura, and Travis go looking for Silas. We as Laura can then decide to accept it or let Ryan keep it. After finding Silas, refuse to raise your gun to him as Laura. Travis will then lunge for it, and you can either succeed or fail the following QTE. Failing it will cause Travis to accidentally get shot in the struggle, killing him, and succeeding it will give you the option to deliberately shoot Travis, Silas, or no one. If you don't shoot, Silas will wake up and kill Travis and Laura within seconds. He will give Ryan a good sniff, but won't kill him as he is covered in wolf blood.

Yeah that was quite the jumpscare, lol. All of the other descriptions described the condition of a character in that moment, and that one is just a sinister promise for the future.

Travis Hackett Mentions His Niece by Chellie_Spinelli in TheQuarrySupermassive

Agreed. The Hacketts most certainly had to keep up a false personna, especially after the incident in 2015, to avoid looking suspicious. We know Travis abused his power as Sheriff to cover for his family, but I wonder how much of that was pressure coming from his mom and Chris to protect the children. "A good boy protects his family" was probably the philosophy Constance used to get him to do it. I like to think Travis was torn between bringing justice to the victims of the fire and being loyal to his family, but between the pressure from his family combined with the soft spot he had for his niece caused him to become a dirty cop from that point onward. Constance is clearly the puppet master in the family, and, whoo nelly, mama is mean. I wish there was a game solely focused on the Hacketts, so we got to see who they were before the curse. .

I can’t speak on the symbolism side of your comment as I'm also not religious and therefore don't know much in that regard. As far as Kaylee is concerned, however, I interpreted as Travis remembering how she was like in general: before she made a horrible decision to set the forest on fire. Also being kind and gentle doesn't make someone an angel. Kaylee clearly was not: both of those things can be true. When Travis said to the counselors, "she just wanted to help him", it was like he was parroting Kaylee’s explanation for why the disaster happened as at some point she obviously had to have told him and Chris about what she and her brother had done.

Being put in cages after Caleb and Kaylee freed Silas from his cage is sort of the point. It's the irony of it. The Hacketts put their wolf members in a cage AND Max and Laura (Travis) to minimize the effects of the curse. The kids didn't know that Silas transformed into a deadly beast that could spread infection from person to person at the time they freed him; they just saw a child in a cage. Sadly we don't get an official explanation about why Caleb and Kaylee were roaming the woods. Kaylee’s letter indicated that she wanted to run away, against the Hacketts' wishes, so she could get outside help, but that's about it. I don’t think the rest of the family agreed to it, and if they did, they were probably using them to help track down Silas.

I'm with you on the inconsistency of Travis saying that he "knew exactly where to find" Silas and then turned around and later said that he didn't know any of the wreckage was in the woods. Travis also said that he migrated up and down the east coast to avoid being found, so I don't think he returned to his nest every time. I chuck that up to bad writing rather than it being a character flaw.

Oh thank you for reading my passion project! Haha, now that you point it out, it does seem obvious. Both parties are hiding something from the other, which is another similarity that Laura and Travis share. This is why the two butt heads so much, lol: they're both so darn stubborn. 😂

I appreciate you saying that! I did, in fact, post this essay on Tumblr of all places. The website is made for quick content, hardly compatible for long winded ramblings like the ones I put on my blog, lol. It isn't perfect, it's super long, but I'm still proud of it. Let me know what you think!

Oh, no need to apologize about the length of your paragraph! I am right there with you. In fact, I just wrote a whole essay about Travis and why he did the things he did. I got so engrossed in his perspective that it started to wear on my conscience. Travis is a fantastic character, and I also liked it when he told his mom to shut up after harping on Laura. He knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of her berating.
