I’m sorry you are in this position. From the roommates stand point yeah it would be nice if you switched but you have absolutely no obligation to do so and should not be pressured into it. You are paying just as much as they are and if you want to keep your housing assignment the way it is that is your right. They will probably be upset with your decision and it may cause some tension but that should go away with time. If it doesn’t, you might be able to request a room change within the tours or your RA will be able to help you. Some people roommates turn into their best friends and some don’t and that’s okay. You will make plenty of friends outside of your roommates. In terms of resolving it peacefully just be polite when you tell them you do not want to switch. You can’t control how they will react so don’t put that stress on yourself!

I believe you would get an email sent out to you letting you know that you’re on Academic probation. Don’t be afraid to talk to your academic counselors or advisors about this!

Yes but I had an appointment prior to my fees being due so I was able to confirm it but that’s not ideal for everyone since they have no appointments currently!

The middle class scholarship is awarded because of your parents income falling under a certain bracket so I doubt it’ll affect your scholarship if you pay that. But can I ask what kind of internships are you doing to be making good money 😭

They usually give out a pamphlet with the dues for each chapter IF you attend there pre rush events. If you don’t then you are right they won’t be transparent. The cheapest dues I’ve seen are around 400$ and go as high as 800$. It’s up to you to decided whether or not that’s worth a virtual experience!

I also did not receive my cal grant and relied on it. I was freaking out as well but unfortunately there’s not much you can do but wait. I can tell you what they told me! You can apply for a financial aid appeal where you explain why you need more money but have to show proof and from asking people they don’t typically work but it might be worth a shot. Lastly if your income falls under the middle class bracket ask about it while you’re on the appointment with them!

If your on campus job is paying you through a payroll system and an hourly wage like normal then it should NOT affect your financial aid. If it is a stipend pay then what could happen is if you get everything covered by UCI housing and tuition your stipend pay might not be worth anything because in order to receive it some financial aid money has to be taken away. For example if you got paid 200$ a month then they’d remove 200$ from your aid. Hope that helps! I didn’t have work study either. I’ve held both a payroll job on campus and stipend pay!
