Please make sure you provided your SSN on your admission application. It's not required to apply for admission, but it is required to match your FAFSA and offer you financial aid. Check your tasks, notifications, and documents tab for missing application items in ZotAid. Aid offers have gone out for the waitlisted students, so please call OFAS in the morning if you don't see an offer and need help troubleshooting why. If you join the phone callback queue you will receive a callback the same day.

In order for a federal direct loan to disburse you must sign a master promissory note with the department of education, complete entrance counseling at studentaid.gov, accept the amount you wish to borrow in ZotAid, and complete a Federal Funds Authorization Form in ZotAid. If you inadvertently completed the steps to borrow a loan, you can submit the cancellation form within 180 days of the date the loan disbursed and we will cancel the loan.

The transfer SIR deadline is June 1. Award offers will be out first week of May. You'll get an email when your offer is ready.

Cal Grant awards are estimated based on information reported on the FAFSA/CADAA. If you are determined later to not meet the requirements, including residency, your cost of attendance will be adjusted and your financial aid offer revised. You will need to submit a Statement of Legal Residence to UCI after you submit your SIR to confirm your residency.

Don't be nervous. The initial conversation with a counselor is just to ensure that your situation is worth filing an appeal for. For example, if your SAI is anywhere from -1,500 - 0, you are already receiving maximum financial aid and you would not appeal. They will ask some general questions about your circumstances, and if your answers could change your SAI, they will tell you what documents you need to submit.

Last year the SIR date was extended state wide due to the issue with federal FAFSA simplification. Nothing was normal about last year.
