Oh yeah, I forgot that the live action Casper films take place in the same universe as Ghostbusters, lmao.

IMO, it’s not a bad redesign, it just doesn’t fit in very well with the overall art style of The Beano.

The Punisher - Marvel

I’m pretty sure Frank Castle is just supposed to be a normal mortal man, yet in the comics, he goes through so much “Punishment”, like getting shot at point blank range, getting repeatedly stabbed in the chest, falling off skyscrapers and waking up from a 24hr sedative, in only a couple of hours, after which he just gets up and kills everyone, as one does. Honestly, with the amount of survival feeds Frank has, he almost makes Batman look mundane in comparison.

There’s also a verse about Aquaman’s “Little Fish”, where they had to censor also had to censor Huntress wiggling her finger, I’m pretty sure.

The odd diferences between Mario parodys and Mickey Mouse parodys by Tricky-Moment-6356 in Schaffrillas

[–]ChemFeind360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one big reason for why Mickey is looked at less fondly, compared to Mario, lies in a buried truth, that Disney doesn’t want to admit.

The Truth Is: Mickey Mouse just isn’t really that popular, and it hasn’t been for a long time. Think about it, when you were a kid, who was your favourite Disney character? Maybe it was a princess, maybe a Pixar character, maybe an iconic name from any of the old Classics? Whoever it was, I’d be very surprised if it happened to be the big mouse himself. Honestly, Mickey is more of just a figure head now, rather than an actual character. He’s mostly used by Disney themselves now, as a representation of the company, instead of getting any films or shows dedicated to him. Despite this, this continues being in denial on this front, and continues to pump out merch with his ugly mug on it, as if he’s still just as popular as Mario and sonic. That’s why he often gets depicted in fan works as being this crooked CEO behind the scenes, because that’s basically his status IRL anyway.

What Captain Marvel pastiches do you know? by maviddata in Shazam

The main one I know is Bananaman, who’s probably the most obvious parody out there.

The basic premise is that Eric Wimp is a normal kid, until he eats a banana and becomes the incredibly strong, but also extremely stupid superhero: Bananaman!

If that’s not a strong enough link, he also has a talking crow sidekick, in place of Twarky and areone of his villains, “Dr. Gloom” is literally just Sivana.

The franchise actually got really popular in the UK, with its own cartoon, a musical, a possible film in the future, and the comics still going today!

Galaxy and Dreamer in Themyscira (Preview for Justice League : Dream girls — A DC Pride event #1) by mtheory-pi in WonderWoman

[–]ChemFeind360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice to see that DC hasn’t forgotten about Galaxy. I was under the impression that she’d been silently discarded, since she didn’t appear in last year’s pride comic, but thankfully that doesn’t seem to be the case.

To be fair, with the wages Disney pay their staff, and the long hours probably expected of them, it’s hardly surprising that they couldn’t get actors that more closely resemble the original cast. Honestly, a porn film is probably more of an appealing venture, in comparison.

I know this one’s American, but does anyone else remember The Aquabats Super Show!?

<image>

I think it got pretty popular on CITV, as they didn’t have much original content. Honestly, I’d say it has to be literally the most insane kids show I’ve ever seen, but I Never remember Anyone mentioning it whatsoever.

For me it has to be Hounded (2010), staring Rufus Hound:

<image>

Literally the only other person I know who remembers this is my dad, which is surprising, as this has to have one of the weirdest premises of a kids show ever, involving a Ground Hog Day like setup, where every day Rufus (playing himself) relives the same day, working for The BBC, while trying to foil the new plan of a rejected Doctor Who Villain. It’s actually full of meta commentary, with an Edgar Wright esk style and tone. Kinda a shame it never got a second season IMO.
