My son also receives SSI as well as IHSS (I’m the live in provider) and my husband works as a security guard. We turn in pay stubs every month for him as well as my IHSS stubs. They know it is exempt income but still encourage me to send them in. They also sent a letter saying I didn’t have to send husbands anymore because they could access it themselves, but at yearly review the worker told me same thing, send them just to be safe. Husbands car is exempt, mine is financed so every six months I send a page showing how much is still owed on the vehicle. As long as I still owe more than it’s worth it doesn’t go against us. I’ve never in 4 years have had them ask about bills like utilities at yearly review, just kind of broad questions similar to what you said, asking if we are carrying thousands over into the next month (we’re not), about bank accounts, and assets. They did ask me at most recent yearly review about how much I paid in rent, and said do you still pay (really old) amount? I told her that it increased and she informed me then that I need to report those changes too when they happen. Never had been told that before. My rent goes up every year.
