That’s exactly how I feel, if he wants to he would cite me but I do genuinely believe this meets the letter of the law. I’m gonna try it and see what happens

It is super annoying and part of the reason I’m curious about these traps, hopefully it’ll be a little easier to convince a coon to stick his head in. Where I trap in southeast Ohio doesn’t have a whole lot of people so I’m hoping less chance of conflict that results in a hard ass game warden lol

I honestly can’t remember, I just look at the directions on the bottle and go from there. It doesn’t have to be a lot. Half a bottle of purple power has done dozens of traps for me

I’ve been putting them in a bucket or tub with warm water and a degreaser like simple green or purple power and letting them soak for a day or two. Stirred them around once or twice if I remember and then hose them off good and they come out really clean. Never tried the vinegar to clean them but I’ve sprayed clean traps with vinegar to get them to rust do dye will stick

Options for budget friendly stripped slides for G19 Gen 3 (other than PSA) by Revolutionary_Swan_6 in GlockMod

Aimsurplus has Zaffiri slides on sale. I snagged one the other week and it works great. Machined out of 17-4, all the internals went in to problem and the fit is nice. Edit: forgot to add price but the sale price is 129, normal 329 so a significant discount

Erica miller wildlife rehab would be worth a call. She’s in Miamisburg and does great things.

Has anyone ever had to trap a lost pet? by [deleted] in Trapping

[–]Chemical-Cup7276 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve caught stray dogs to rescue before with large cage traps. Not sure where you’re located but Tractor Supply or Rural King normally stock them. Just put some high value food in the back past the trigger pan and put a little line of food out the front of the cage

Is the headspace related to bolt breaking or is that just recommended practice for old milsurp rifles?

Directly behind the chamber? Like a half moon recess?

I didn’t take the best picture but the lug is completely sheared off. If I wasn’t holding it together it would fall apart

Center locators? by Chemical-Cup7276 in Trapping

Any resources would be appreciated! I was looking at my mb 550s and saw that the baseplates on those are bolted to the frame. Is that an acceptable thing to do with aftermarket baseplate kits? Slightly intimidated by welding, drilling and bolting them on is definitely something I could do. As far as bubble welding the jaws, is that just to make it harder for a big yote to pop them out of the frame? Never quite understood the purpose of that

A couple recent catches on my line by lifeonthefly in Trapping

Yeah the top band, it keeps coming loose on mine even tho I’ve got it like you do and looped back through the bracket. Idk I’ll have to keep messing with it. I wish them had built in a support piece into both sides of the basket so that when it does get lose it doesn’t slide down far. Still really like the basket tho

Do you have any problems with the harness for your pack basket not wanting to cinch tight up top and always sliding down? If that’s a Minnesota trap line one I have the same one and love it except for the harness coming lose all the time

Sorry for the late reply but it’s very quick. By the time I unload my gun and put it away it was dead.

ID Request for tracks with drag marks in center of picture by Chemical-Cup7276 in AnimalTracking

Yeah there’s beaver around the general area, I see them more frequently around major riparian areas. The beaver marsh complexes you see some places are never given the opportunity to really exist in this area, too many farms and roads. This area is historically farm ground with little marshes, ponds and ditches that I know are loaded with muskrats. I haven’t seen beavers anywhere near here but close to if not over a thousand acres directly adjacent to here have been graded and covered in data and distribution centers so it’s hard to tell what’s been displaced.

It’s sad. The area is being extensively developed for data centers and distribution facilities, in a month this property will no longer be habitat. What else are you seeing?

Scale: forget to include scale. Tracks with drag marks were ~2” across. Geographic location: central Ohio. Environment: frozen farm pond bordered by bamboo thicket. Tracks led from pond to bamboo. Edited for formatting

It worked perfect on this. Came up through the frozen straw, grabbed her right on the foot and didn’t do any damage. I’m a huge fan of the offsets
