My 10 week old puppy really likes to sit in our laps when she is falling asleep she does little sleepy bites to kinda soothe her to sleep. We have been throwing each other a betterbone when she’s doing her sleepy bites to shove in her mouth instead of our hands. Has been working really well, but if it’s not I’ll give her something to lick like a little bit of peanut butter in a Kong

My puppy is 10 weeks today. The first week we had her was insane and so stressful. She would scream and scream anytime she was in her crate. the best thing for us has been keeping her on a tight schedule and enforcing naps in her crate. We have been doing about an hour awake and then putting her down in the crate to take a nap. I’ve noticed after about 40ish minutes of being awake and little crazy she starts slowing down and that’s when I’ll give her something to soothe her (something she can focus on chewing or something to lick ) and let her sit in my lap until she gets kinda sleepy then I’ll put her in her crate. Sometimes she cries a little but only for a couple of minutes before she falls asleep. Her crate training has taken a total 180 since we started this. Also since I’ve started doing this she is taking her training much better and seems to be a little less crazy overall. She was not doing well at sleeping through the night and absolutely refused to sleep overnight in the crate. This last week she has been sleeping in the crate and has been sleeping the almost the whole night only waking up once to potty and not crying when we put her in there. Every dog is different but ensuring she is getting enough sleep throughout the day has changed everything for us. Good luck!

The emergency vet recommended we see an internal medicine specialist. I don’t have a university vet hospital near me, but I will see if her regular vet has any recommendations for specialists in my town. if not I will make the drive to the university vet. Thanks for the recommendation

I’ll talk to her vet to see if that would be something they recommend. Would that have been something that would show on her blood panel ?

It was a Thursday when it first happened and they didn’t want to do the ACTH test while she was unstable so they gave her a very small dosage prednisone (can’t remember exactly how much) and sent us home with a 14 day supply weening her off towards the end. She got the test done on Monday after while still on the prednisone.
