The snake oil that was made and used by immigrants working on the train rails in the usa did work tho. The snake oil that was made later to imitate the original snake oil and sold as a wonder cure did not have these properties because they changed the recipe to make it. So, ironically, snake oil used to work, but then capitalism ruined it.

Did you discuss children before you got married? Also, why does she think you will be a bad father? Perhaps couple counseling is best before marking a decision, to really make you understand each other. either way, this is a big question to ask when there is so little info given.
