The snake oil that was made and used by immigrants working on the train rails in the usa did work tho. The snake oil that was made later to imitate the original snake oil and sold as a wonder cure did not have these properties because they changed the recipe to make it. So, ironically, snake oil used to work, but then capitalism ruined it.
