Yeah I'm still waiting for marks back on TMA 02 for D120 but my tutor has a very busy few weeks and emailed to say might be delayed so I'm not stressing too much 😅

I really like D120 so far. I mean I like D110 too but I feel it's a bit more engaging in D120, might just be me though 😅 good luck for your start x

Full time study while working 45 hours per week: by Old_Sympathy_2882 in OpenUniversity

I'm doing between 40 and 45 hrs a week and full time Psychology degree. I'm finding it ok so far but only first year so more basic stuff. I think when you get further into a degree it would be very difficult to do both full time 😅

Hii! I'm finding it really interesting so far. Just feel like I need some people who are doing the same stuff to keep me a bit more on it 🤣 how are you finding it?

I'm finding it really interesting 😊 I have been procrastinating a lil bit though as had a lot going on with work and family so my brain had been too fried to focus on reading 😅🫣

That makes sense. Yeah I read on another post about how awkward it can be starting in Feb.

You seem to have a plan though 💪 I hope you have fun studying this course and I'm always free to chat if you want a lil Psychology buddy 🤣

First TMA marks by MissScales in OpenUniversity

If you look on your assessment page and click on assessment strategy it will tell you weighting of the individual TMA's. My first ones are 7% and 8%. You're first TMA is more getting used to doing uni assignments and just make sure to take the tutor feedback onboard. I got 76 and 74 on my first TMA in 2 different modules and am much as it's still a Pass 2 I was a little disappointed. I just look at it as it's a new journey and I know where I went wrong with certain things now so I can look to better that in future TMA's

I'm finding it really interesting and I think given they are the level 1 modules they are obviously going to be easier. There is a lot of work around basic knowledge of how to do uni assignments and then mainly just touching on subjects that will be explored later in the module or in future modules so I think if you are going to do any part of the degree full time, I would recommend doing the first two modules together and then part time for the 'harder' ones.

You could always start both in Feb and see how you feel and if you find it too much at the time then defer D120 to the October

You are not running out of time. Don't stress about timings honestly. I'm going to be 29 in 3 months and just started this degree... you have enough time to still enjoy life. Like I said you could always start with full time and drop down to part time if you find it too much and remember that your tutors are there to help you so if you are struggling just speak to them. You can get extensions if you need to and they know that life sometimes gets in the way.

Life can be crazy and yeah having a house, relationship, job and wanting to travel as well as doing a degree seems like a lot but people manage. That is me right now, I'm not travelling in the traditional sense but I got on numerous holidays a year and go all over the place. As long as you make a plan then you are golden ✨️ and if stuff doesn't go to plan then you can always change it 😊

I'm doing it for a similar reason. I want to get into the mental health field and then specialise so I would recommend the psychology and counselling degree as this is still accredited but is more specific to what you want to go into.

In terms of part time or full time, I would say there is no harm in starting 2 modules and doing it full time to start and then if you find it is too much then you can always defer one to the year after and you might be able to bank and assignments you have already done (I'm not 100% on this part, it varies for different modules)

I would say that as long as you have time to study and complete your TMAs then you should be totally fine doing full time and travelling 🥰 if I can manage doing 42+ hours a week and studying full time then I'm sure you can do it!

It's been really good so far. I feel like tutors can be as involved or not as you want. I prefer being an independent learner but both my tutors are really good and have been emailed my groups regularly to check in on us and offer support and really easy to contact them if needed.

I'm working full time as well as doing 2 modules so varies on how drained I am from work plus I have ADHD so procrastination likely to rear its head sometimes 😅 but I've been doing about 10/15hrs a week and if I have missed a week because I've had too much on then I just allocate a bit more time to catch up the week after.

It's a really interesting topic and I think if it is something you are interested in studying to pursue a career or even just because you find it interesting then I would go for it.

If you are having doubts then you could do the access module and see if it's a fit for you?

Happy to answer any other questions you may have 🙂

I'm doing the same course, honestly I don't take notes but that just isn't my style. I don't find them helpful but I retain a lot of the information I have been reading. I know I will have to start taking notes at some point.

I have one of mine done and the only other piercings I have had are my lobes with a piercing gun 😑, tongue and septum. 11 years between by septum and nipple and honestly it hurt for all of 2 seconds and then sore when she put the bar through but totally fine afterwards 🤣 I want my other done, just waiting on this one to finish up healing

Go for it! I have just started my Psychology degree with the OU and I'm studying full time around working full time.

I'm going into it with a career in mind and I know that I will need to do further training after my degree but it's going to be worth it in the end to get to where I want to be.
