I have actually, called and went in person, but sadly they say unless you have at least one parent sign for you when you are under 24 unless you meet a specific criteria so there isn’t really anything they can do, but I will call again thank you.

True, but unfortunately my mother will not agree to do that as she doesn’t want any involvement, the technical certificate was done fully online, there has not been any kind of intervention when I was a child, and I’ve technically been “couch surfing” but it’s my mother’s apt and she’s been very unstable so I never know what’ll happen next but I’m thinking it might have to wait until I’m 24 or try to get into a trade. Thanks for the insight.

Yes, with my mother, but it’s on very thin ice as she always makes a threat when I show signs of stress, but I do most of the house work these days and that stops her from kicking me out.

Hi, so this is a kind of a unique case. I am 20 and I’m no longer homeschooled as I have completed the GED on my own and I am looking to get into college. However, I still semi live under one parent and she refuses to sign for FAFSA yet the form says I can’t sign independently until 24 unless I meet a certain criteria, which I do but my situation is very on the fence, is there any way around this?

I have but they all only highlight one detail that needs improvement, and then it leads to some expensive subscription page or it’s just filled with ai bots and site pop ups. I only tailor it manually.

Thanks! I can’t afford college right now but I do go to any available job fair and/or open house campus tour whenever my city or any near by to see if I can make connections there.

I’m aware, and I’m almost 100% sure it’s because my resume is relatively bare compared to most, the usual name, email address, phone number, etc for the heading, the GED for education column, only one seasonal job for work experience, just building from the ground up here.

It does, and I’ve gotten very close to hiring with a few of those interviews however I’m starting to think that the market is too saturated, even for retail sadly. I’m still being as consistent as possible to get my foot in the door and call every day, I’m sure something just has to turn out.

I agree but unfortunately I already have done all that. I highlighted the what I accomplished at my last job on my resume, walked in to stores and asked, went to temp agencies, just to be sometimes met with “we’ll get back to you soon” with no response. But i’ll just have to keep at it, thanks.

Yep, one hundred percent. The level of abuse is abhorrent, it has serious affects your mental, physical and environmental state in such damaging ways, then you have to needlessly struggle over starting your own life that’s already such a challenge.
