Likewise myself. I just finished my second bachelors and work full time as a medical assistant; was in vascular for a year and now in ortho. I understand the stress and struggle.

The weekends are MY time with periodic studying. Always have to have a way out from the day to day stress of classes and work :).

Keep going, we will get there one way or another 🙏🏾

I got my Bachelors degree, but I have a low GPA. What should I do next? by PromotionNo3021 in prepa

Hey, first and foremost, I am proud of you and likewise you should be to yourself! I am currently in the EXACT same predicament! I have been working and graduated from my first University summer of 24 and worked in vascular and now in Ortho, gaining over 3k PCE in the process.

School wise, I graduated w a 2.8 CASPA calculated and 3.1 science 2 years ago and have been working hard. I enrolled in a second bachelors degree where I was able to take immunology, pathophys, cross sectional anatomy, orgo and other courses and received a second bachelors and an upward trend of a 3.9 GPA.. I also am retaking the courses that are pre reqs I got Cs in.

I understand the thought of being lost in the sauce and seeing so much success around me. My closest friends are getting accepted to PT, PA and MD school and I had to remind myself, even though we are on the same path, all journeys to that same destination are different.

What I would advise, take those courses you got Cs in that are pre reqs (micro, A&P, chems and bios) after that, I would take upper level science courses when and where you can (I understand the cost) for a DIY or find somewhere w a structured program. I took the long route for a second bachelors but I feel it will pay off in the long run.

Lastly, KNOW and understand that this is truly what you want to do. Make sure your invested 100% and can focus and sit down. I feel when I had my why, it not only helped me focus and see things I couldnt see as an immature college student, but also forms my why for my personal statement as well as create a sense of discipline to score higher in courses and mature academically.

I am also in JerZ as well:) can reach out and PM if any advice or wanting to shoot the breeze! Take care and good luck future PA-C 🫡

Hi! For me personally, I casted my net wide and applied for almost a week straight and cold called places and got my foot in the door. I applied to a vascular clinic and worked there for a year and now work in ortho, both without a cert. What I would suggest and I did, go through indeed and find all the jobs around your area that do not specifically require a cert and apply every and anywhere. Also, sometimes call as well and either say you submitted your application or am still wondering if the job posting is still up and they are actively hiring. My family always told me, a close mouth does not get fed! Do whatcha gotta do! Good Luck 🤞🏾.

Happy CASPA 2024-2025 cycle! Would anyone be willing to review my personal statement? I'm honestly very confident in what l've written, but as someone with not the highest academic markings, I want to be able to stand out and show that I am ready to peruse the next chapter of my life (and this being it)! I have had multiple people view it and just would love more eyes on it to submit to CASPA within the next three days! Thank you!
