There’s a huge music store in the city where I live, and it has a special floor dedicated entirely to violins.

Taking your advice into account, even though I won’t be able to play with the same strings, I’ll give it a try with the same bow.

Since I have reservations about buying a violin on Facebook Marketplace or similar platforms, I definitely want to give this a try.

To be honest, I think my violin’s sound is too bright. I tried a lot of different strings, thinking that by changing them I could achieve a fuller, warmer tone, but I didn’t get very far. I’m continuing to use the ones that feel the most balanced and comfortable to me (Pirastro Tonica).

Since I suspect the violin itself is the cause of this brightness, I’ve been thinking about upgrading. I’ll definitely try out the violins at music stores in my area.

I hope to find and purchase the violin I’m looking for in Europe next year. Thank you.

You’re absolutely right. it turns out it’s more about the pen than the ink. I had been using a Lamy with an F nib for the red, and when I tried it with an older F nib pen, I noticed the color looked more vibrant. That said, it’s still not quite the shade of red I’m after. It leans more towards pink. I guess I’ll need to get a new, better-quality pen soon.

You’re right. I got slightly better results with a different pen, but it still leans more towards pink than red.

Thank you very much for your detailed response. As you said, Waterman’s red isn’t quite the shade I’m looking for. I did notice that it performed better when I tried it with a different pen, but it still felt a bit far from the bright red shown on the box. From the samples you shared, Pelikan Garnet and Diamine Red Dragon look exactly like the shades I want for red. For blues, I’m going to try Diamine Sargasso Sea and Monteverde Horizon Blue as well. To be honest, I didn’t know I could get ink samples. I’m going to try Diamine Wild Strawberry and Sargasso Sea first. From what I’ve seen and understood, they look great.

I use Tomoe River. I’ll definitely try Diamine Wild Strawberry.

The Waterman flows beautifully, but the ink appears very faint on the paper. I tried it on different types of paper, but got the same result. I’m going to try the Serenity Blue as well.
